NEW - Banksy's Regents Canal, London, by m@san on Dec 23, 2009 22:47:15 GMT 1, ... or a canoe: Mr B must have froze his T**s off doing all that over the past few days
It's a canal Banksy! Global warming will have no effect on the water level .... unless it gets so warm that wood in Camden Lock's gates gets so hot that it spontaneously combusts!! And then the water would go down ... rather than rise! What were you thinking?

NEW - Banksy's Regents Canal, London, by Nico on Dec 24, 2009 10:08:54 GMT 1, Come on...these guy are out of their mind. All B did was "upgrade" Robbo's piece. Left the best part of it and now a lot of people who hadn't heard of robbo or seen his piece will (partially). They are saying "death to the cunt"...things like that...they are out of their little minds. Saying also "the gravity of this act"... "will have repercussions"...they talk just like the people who criticise graffiti after a beautiful boring grey wall gets graffed. Lucky this lasted 25 years, now it can last longer with a little help from B.

NEW - Banksy's Regents Canal, London, by ramo on Dec 25, 2009 19:44:33 GMT 1, That thing what I like most of this current story of Banksy and Robbo and their piece is, that it brings some spirit back to Banksys work which is very important: Old Graffiti rules about respect and history! Away from removing whole walls with Banksy pieces to make some money and waiting a night to buy a print and make 1k profit in some hours...
And much better as the crossed Ikea-punk-piece as well!!

It's not that close if you look at other shots on flickr. Robbo's grey is much lighter.

NEW - Banksy's Regents Canal, London, by davidsmith on Dec 26, 2009 14:55:58 GMT 1, Three observations if I may......
Firstly, if you look to the lower right hand side you can see the damp spot where I must assume Robbo seems to have pulled himself out of the canal, maybe he really did adapt the piece while dressed in a wetsuit!
Secondly, does make it appear as B is now the decorator in the piece paying homage to Robbo... Quite ironic in my mind and thus very amusing!
And finally thirdly, obviously B knew what he was doing when throwing his piece on top of Robbo's. I notice Robbo has tagged his image on Flickr as 'Banksy b**ch Slap'. Maybe that old beef still running deep or maybe this whole thing is a scheme appropriated by B and Robbo themselves?
Definitely the most thought provoking Banksy in years as it currently stands in my honest and humble opinion.

NEW - Banksy's Regents Canal, London, by davidsmith on Dec 26, 2009 22:50:06 GMT 1, more thought provoking that "I don't believe in Global warming"?
Hi, Yes I think so. The global warming statement is as raw as graff gets but it is stating the obvious. A good piece as it stands as it is a true reflection (pardon the pun) of itself.
I don't mean to get all arty farty in the way I'm approaching this so apologise if I am coming across that way in advance of what I am going to say, and vice-versa, I don't went to appear as a hardcore painter either, although I do paint outdoors (and have done for over twenty years), and collect art, but that is besides the point.... Anyway I have formed an opinion of whats interesting to me (today, but tomorrow may change hehe).
This new Banksy piece was quite offensive to a lot of people simply because Robbo's piece was a landmark to some and almost shrine like to others of times past. I expect if you ask Robbo to comment he didn't expect the piece to last more than a few days, and the fact it lasted over twenty years is astounding, a lot is down to respect.
Now the process of losing a piece hurts a bit but in the modern day with protective perspex being tossed over pieces left right and centre losing such a piece in this way is almost a statement in itself. Sort of saying "if you won't go over our work we'll do it ourselves".
To bring this to the attention of the street B picked Robbo's piece. And Robbo's sort of done B a favor by doing the same because as a writer when you put something on the street it's not for ever, and we know this when we do it. It is a recent phenomenon to do otherwise, arguments aside please.
I'm seriously beginning to think this whole thing is a game between the pair of them. Or possibly I have turkey poisoning and my brains suffering flatulence..
But back to my point I think it's the most entertaining and thought provoking work in a very long time down to the way it is evolving as a very thought provoking mutating piece.
No idea if I explained myself at all lol. Don't think I know what I am on about so do excuse me.

NEW - Banksy's Regents Canal, London, by recycle on Dec 26, 2009 23:40:54 GMT 1, I was on about the actual background on the wall, not the background of the letters, if you superimposed both images on each other you would have seen that Robbo had to do some or all of the background. Either way you look at it though it's an interesting concept, either a a wars just about to start to see who's top dog, or a collaborations happening between two of the best guys out there......

Adjust your monitor if you can't see it, but round the bucket and the guy's head especially you can see the old darker grey where Robbo hasn't gone right up to the Banksy piece.
