At the time this was a pretty fair deal for both sides, particularly as the purchaser was from over the pond and thus benefited from the favourable exchange rate. These days however, I reckon if you offered someone ยฃ750 you'd probably pick one up for that. Harajuku.....hmmm....ยฃ900? SMS....not sure.
Now is a very good time to be buying Micallefs, especially if you go for the smaller Eyestorm editions of 95. I can't honestly see the market going much lower. Lots of people keep sticking his prints up at unrealistic BIN prices on fleabay, none of them sell and all it does is add to the general feeling of poison chalice. He's a great artist who produced some great prints, now the hype has disappeared, its a good time to be a buyer.
The only reason I sold my Girl Tokyo was that it was never going to make the wall and the money went straight into buying an original by another artist. I still own two other prints and they're not going anywhere.
