A couple prints including Morons (surprisingly) sold pretty well.
But signed barcode for example went for a record £9800 on ebay 2-3-4 months ago I do believe. Sold for £6200 at auction and the seller only took home roughly £5500 - Jack and Jill the seller took home about £3.5k etc.

I've said it before I hate seeing this stuff go to auction because it adds about 30% fluff inbetween what the seller takes home and what the buyer pays which is all auction house profit. I really don't want to be too judgemental but the record number of Banksy works in auctions this fall reeks of people trying to cash in when it's now appearing it would have been better off if people simply made good deals with forum members for example. Oh well.

I think they were all priced roughly the same, around £500 (well that's what I paid for HFU and No-one), but the prices rise as they sell more.

There is also often a 'pre-release' offer to the gallery's regular buyers.

But who's cost? The sellers may well have paid thousands for them.

I do feel that we have reached a point where the market has softened, there is much talk of ebay prices, but we know that a ton of shill bidding has and does go on, so whilst the prices at the auction were not as high as we've seen them, I think they are probably indicative of where the secondary market is going. It's also important to realize that these prints are not exactly rare, most signed editions are 150 - 400, and unsigned are 600-1000, that means there are a lot of prints out there. Speculators are not collectors, they base their values on the prints perceived scarcity. What does this all mean? I think the end of the prices continually going up, which frankly was stupid and those who bought into it were a little deluded, the prices will eventually settle at a stable level - and we should be pleased that they will. At least we'll all know where we stand, and stop worrying what that signed CND might make and what it'll mean to the value of the one on the wall and the two that are probably unframed under the bed.

i recieved the new Bloomsbury auction book(modern and contemporary prints november 28th) in the post yesterday. a really nice surprise and well worth getting hold of a copy. lots of interesting stuff up for grabs. the book is nearly 300 pages long, its full of info and pictures. there are loads of banksy's, micallefs etc etc. any forum membes got any items up for sale here??

doesnt say but the reserve is often the lower end of the estimate unless you talk to them..... still not to late to set a reserve.

Cheers, its a bit annoying also because i included a receipt and santa's ghetto flyer (don't laugh too much, it does make a big difference to the price) which they should be advertising in the catelogue as included otherwise I would have been better of selling it myself. Not liking this auction business now. Get the feeling they don't understand the Banksy market that much. at all.

I wouldn't worry too much FPR. Most buyers at auction take the view that the purchase from an auction house guarantees provenance. Auction houses have on rare occasions in the past been stung (Hirst prints in particular) and are now at pains to establish provenance. So most people bidding will not have any doubt about prov.
