I've never put any faith whatsoever in their auctions and have in fact heard a few horror stories. I am a happy subscriber to their auction price index which I've found to be an invaluable tool. I just searched Banksy and if anyone needs cautionary evidence, they do NOT include the final prices of their own sponsored auctions in their auction index. I can even see a fake road sign coming up at "Bukowskis Helsinki: Tuesday, November 12" but none of the results from any of their own auctions. There are exactly 1089 results for the artist but none from artnet; make of that what you will.

I guess the image is quite strange and the graffiti background isn't their typical style which may be sticking points for a lot of buyers. Certainly an attention grabber though. Seems like a ton on these pieces have attracted bids. |
