Artnet Auctions ๐บ๐ฒ, by johnnyh on Jul 5, 2014 10:12:01 GMT 1, Terrible shame. It's so easy to read and think (no offense intended) how daft...but shows how easy it is to be swindled.
Must say that's why I hate ebay, and the likes of WCP and all these fakes and forgeries really do contribute to these problems.
Walton Fine Arts figures as well.
Good luck and hope you get your money back PE. This should be a lesson to us all on being careful where we source pieces as I would suspect PE has a lot more buying experience than most of us.
Also must commend you on going public with this PE rather than trying to pass them on which happens so often.

Artnet Auctions ๐บ๐ฒ, by Deleted on Jul 5, 2014 11:02:43 GMT 1, Thomas Hilmersson is represented by Walton Fine Arts , home of Bambi Some good detective work on your part about the ebay seller.
Not sure about the legalities though as some of his listings were listed as "manner of" which as a professional you would be aware of the auction terms and legalities and know what you are buying.
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-Keith-Haring-Subway-porcelain-sign-Andy-warhol-Banksy-/161334446694?pt=Art_Prints&hash=item2590484a66
Ebay has a lot of crap with the words added, "manner of" or sold "as is" or "school of" etc etc and why would anyone list a genuine artwork thats potentially worth thousands on ebay and let it go for a fraction of it's potential value if it was authentic.
Surely people read the descriptions before they buy anything?
I agree that using the word "attributed" is very misleading as a recognised expert in an artist would be qualified to attribute to an artist not the seller.
It's all interesting and the number of buyers of crap off ebay for a few quid who go running to Sothebys etc with it hoping they can make a big profit only to be told it's worthless and then go asking for their money back is something that ebay needs to address and sort out.
www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/features/the-great-online-art-illusion-a-cautionary-tale-9585690.html
""Mr Uzzell-Edwards said: โWe sent a letter to Maske two weeks ago saying: โPay us back or elseโ. Nothing happened so I sent a strongly phrased letter along the lines of โif youโve seen Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men, Iโm going to do that until you end up in prisonโ.โ
The full amount was finally returned on Wednesday, and Mr Uzzell-Edwards decided against going to the police. The imitation works remain in storage.""
""if youโve seen Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men, Iโm going to do that until you end up in prisonโ.โ"
WTF does that mean you were going to turn up with a bad hair do and deep voice?
Why are the works in storage, why didn't you destroy or burn them?
Just curious and when buying off eBay always make sure you read and understand the descriptions and f it's a well known artist and looks too good to be true then it is.

Artnet Auctions ๐บ๐ฒ, by Deleted on Jul 5, 2014 14:25:52 GMT 1, Highly recommend submitting any Warhol or Haring auction listing to PSA/DNA for their online Quick Opinion.
48 hour turnaround time in most cases. $10 for eBay, $15 for other auction sites in my experience.
(I mean for the 5-10% that are not obviously so off you can smell the stink through your monitor.)

Artnet Auctions ๐บ๐ฒ, by Deleted on Jul 6, 2014 2:45:48 GMT 1, Yes. I'm guessing they can mainly authenticate the signature itself, but I am not sure what the authentication covers.
Seems it would be possible for someone to buy, say, an authentic Warhol or Haring signature on a catalog or paper, get that authenticated, and then later draw a sketch on it. Would have an authenticated piece with a fraudulent drawing!
Kind of the reverse of buying an unsigned Banksy image and faking the signature.
Also, the Quick Opinion is not ironclad nor binding, rather can confirm or refute your suspicions. They grade an item: Likely Genuine; Likely Not Genuine; Unable to Render an Opinion (for which they refund your money).
Meaning that if they saw the item in person, based on the photos of the item, there is a very high chance they would grade it as such with official documentation.
