Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by jaimesl on Dec 13, 2009 11:01:04 GMT 1, Mate, my wife is moments away from popping out a baby... Hanging out with the boys over night would not have gone down well
I'm at home listening to whale music, burning candles and rubbing feet.
I missed out on a B - this little rat bag better be worth it!

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by niaudiasbrother on Dec 13, 2009 11:27:27 GMT 1, I'm gobsmacked that some of you don't realise that this happens in all areas of the art world where pieces of work are bought as 'investments' and sold relatively quickly at an inflated price. Does it make it any more acceptable if the seller wears a suit or runs a gallery?
Anyone with not-so-long memories will recall an Adam Neate original being sold in Laz's Charing Cross gallery a few months after it was purchased from Elms Lesters, but I don't hear anyone shouting Laz is a 'flipper'.
If a print is sold via lottery or with people queuing up overnight a percentage of those prints are going to go to people who are looking to turn a profit. In fact the chances of the print going to 'flippers' increase in a lottery because it is much easier for an opportunist to enter an email address on a website than to stand in the cold for over 12 hours.
The other thing to remember is the secondary/flipper market gives those people who are unfortunate not to win a lottery or be in easy access of London to buy a print. Even if every single print went to a Banksy fan, thousands of people would be disappointed because of the popularity of the artist. Demand easily outstrips supply. Ebay and the phenomenon of the flipper does have a positive role to play in this regard, but it appears most of you would rather fill the pockets of a monied plummy art dealer than a Nigerian street sweeper who has spent the night queuing in the cold.
Pictures On Walls/Banksy etc should be applauded. They have made it perfectly clear that they would prefer the work to be in the hands and homes of those people looking to enjoy the art, rather than those looking to turn a quick profit. Now that they have paid proper attention to making sure that proper provenance is provided with every print, gives any prospective secondary purchaser of Banksy's work some piece of mind knowing that they have more than a faded till receipt and the previous owner's word as proof of purchase.
I think Banksy's work is competitively priced considering his cache. For people like me £450 is still a lot of money and the fact that Pictures On Walls has given me the chance to buy this piece of work which I will cherish for years to come, has a greater worth to me than the money I could possibly make.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by craigf on Dec 13, 2009 12:03:48 GMT 1, btw Kermit, I've no issue with you looking to sell this straight on, you queued and have obviously decided you would rather turn this into reddies rather than hang it on the wall, each to their own, I'm not going to judge
Hoping for a nice email from POW tomorrow telling me I've won a Green ;D

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by Guest on Dec 13, 2009 12:10:31 GMT 1, I think ebay is a better way of flipping this one day after release rather than posting it on whats supposed to be a fan site.
I have no problem with you flipping this, i just wouldnt buy it from you. but good luck im sure others will.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by Nico on Dec 13, 2009 12:34:31 GMT 1, wow...didn't think I'd see one here so quick. Can't see anyone buying it yet...we don't know what it will sell for until the green are released, but IMO, the image isn't that great, the message is near to non...so really not worth more than the cheapest signed Banksy, maybe 1200 tops.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by telsin on Dec 13, 2009 12:45:22 GMT 1, Cheers mate - we got lucky with our neighbours for sure! Darren - apologies, I think I may have woken you up about 04:30. I did a reconnaisance of the queue from back at what turned out to be the early 200s. Spotted a familiar face and gave you a big shout out! A great night, which was, for me, very impromptu. I went out for a work related meal and then was in a cab going past the queue at 01:30. STOP! I shouted, much to me wife's annoyance when she called at 03:30 to see where I was! "A shocking lack of judgement for someone claiming to be sobre." read her later text... I stood for the entire night and having two kids, couldn't sleep at all during yesterday. It was only a hot bath at 21:00 last night that finally warmed me up! BTW - I have to say thanks to a fair few people who helped me out in the queue to pay between 10:00 and 11:00 yesterday. I had to take my kids to a Xmas party at 11:00 and even though I had queued all night, I would have had to leave without picking up the print if I hadn't paid by then. Thanks all! One guy said it was just like the script of a Xmas film! Well, thanks to a few of you, it had a happy ending, with (a very tired and dishevelled) Dad taking photos of the kids on Santa's knee.
Or was that the cello recitement lol, glad you made it on time.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by thevideovaults on Dec 13, 2009 13:02:55 GMT 1, Well I was one of the earliest Losers, set off from Manchester at 3am, finally got to the queue at 6am and saw the mass of people. Spoke to one of the guys on crowd control who said I was borderline so I waited it out. At about seven the tickets had been given out and I was about sixth away. The guy to get the last ticket said he had arrived at 4am. So I missed out by two hours. That life... I ended up staying just incase one was spare, well it was 4 hours back to Manchester, but no luck. It was good to see the cheers when people collected there's and dedication of the early queuers. I did go in about 11am and got one of the Dran special edition's, which is excellent. I did see a spare No Ball Games on the desk behind the counter, but Simon would'nt sell this as it had'nt been numbered. Should have asked him to wright ap on it. Did have a good time talking to everyone, but the quote of the day was " Not sure what I am queuing for but worth it for £500-600 "

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by bullet on Dec 13, 2009 13:08:10 GMT 1, Yes flipping is annoying etc, but not everyone who will be doing it on this print will have demon eyes.
think of the people that without it would not be able to have a nice christmas with their kids or family. Maybe that money will be able to pay to make a kids christmas really magic or get to see that relative in another country.
Its part of the game, i have mixed feelings but there is always the other side to the coin.
banksy knows this and what goes on, why else would he release stuff like this so close to xmas and refuse to bump up the price
