Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by chippy on Dec 13, 2009 14:57:51 GMT 1, I spoke to one guy in the queue who admitted that he had flipped an old print to fund a round the world trip. When considered in this perspective I have absolutely no problems and doubt Banksy or the majority of people there would have either.
I'm gobsmacked that some of you don't realise that this happens in all areas of the art world where pieces of work are bought as 'investments' and sold relatively quickly at an inflated price. Does it make it any more acceptable if the seller wears a suit or runs a gallery?.... it appears most of you would rather fill the pockets of a monied plummy art dealer than a Nigerian street sweeper who has spent the night queuing in the cold.
CHIPPY!!

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by dh on Dec 13, 2009 15:01:45 GMT 1, dont think nowhere near as many greens will b offered up!
It will be the same, just as with the Donuts. As long as Banksy prints are sold at 30% of the true value, no matter how they are released they will be flipped. POW did a great job with the release and I hope they do the same next time.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by nah on Dec 13, 2009 15:22:34 GMT 1, 8 prints prints being resold so far isn't bad at all, looking at the queue I would have expected it to be closer to half of the entire edition. I think many people that went with the intention of selling straight a way may find they have a strange attachment to the piece after a 12 hour wait. Hope so anyways.
I don't know why they just don't sell to the established userbase/serious collector (like quite a few other galleries do).....
Yeah this clearly doesn't work though, the urban art scene seems to attract the most unscrupulous 'serious collectors' ever, even the most exclusive lists seem to contain a bunch of people that will sell at the first opportunity (some in public auctions no less)

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by willywonka on Dec 13, 2009 15:25:22 GMT 1, surely with the amount of these being flipped within 24 hours pow must realise this kind of release is not the way forward sigh - moan moan moan drivel drivel - everyone got their prints there and then, therefore those who were going to sell will do so quickly - long run? probably the same amount sold on as any other release
It's pretty depressing reading isn't it. People seem to have very short memories on here and always seem to be moaning about the same things.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by Pistol on Dec 13, 2009 15:31:59 GMT 1, I personally loved the whole night, drove down from Edinburgh after throwing sleeping bags, camping chairs & a litre Havana Club in the boot. arrived at around 1am & were stone last in the queue for almost an hour, was kinda worried then that maybe my rough count was a hell of a lot rougher than 200. Still all good, spent the hours chatting away with AdamK (glad you made the party) San Fran Ben (Cheers for the coffee) and Nick the round the world yachtsman Danny the chef who very kindly made me think of food all night ! and the guys & gal who joined us later. I'd do it all over again tomorrow (AYE RIGHT)
Was good to meet you too, I was the good looking fella with the black baseball cap on ;)chatting to you and the guy from San Francisco! I got there at 4:am and was the third last to bag a print. Atmosphere was superb and I think POW organised the event in a very professional and well executed manner. Maybe had I not got one I may have had a different opinion! Was absolutely shatterd all day yesterday and am still a bit grumpy today (nothing new there then). I thought I was mad for leaving home at 3AM but when I ended up in the queue chatting to a guy from Scotland and a fella from San Francisco I felt quite sane. Well done to all that got one, it is such a shame that not everyone got one!!!!

Fantastic to meet you, Ben, Nick, Danny and everyone else who was around 'our corner'! You all made it a really enjoyable night.
BTW - I think the rum may have saved my life - I'm still worried I might have hypothermia!

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by chippy on Dec 13, 2009 15:49:13 GMT 1, The day after the day before after the night before when it happened recollection of events story published and written by Master CHIPPY!!
It was a cold fog filled night in ye old East London, Jack the Ripper was ripping and Dizzee Rascal was rapping. In a car fumed pissed part of town; fancy dragons pottered and passed whilst angry young men with deep emotional issues engaged in meaningless confrontation.
Luckily CHIPPY!! and his beautiful friend CHIPPINA!! were sandwiched between 3 slices (is that sandwiched or more pyramidy type snack like the great Toblerone of piza, which you can get in a massively big size for £1 at your local branch of Poundland) of the most friendly bread or airport chocolate, which ever one is more applicable.
We were provided with warmth through the lending of wonderfully cosy yet incredibly unattractive garments, endless supply of chocolate with a rather large Eastenders Minty crunch and most importantly beautiful human interaction.
Don't know what was going down that ye old successful night but we counted 4 midgets in total, all angry and abusive mind, (bar one we saw luckily from a safe distance on the way home) and two small people that had a fight because they were both small.
It was one of those beautiful nights were the wine and KFC made you feel sick and the lack of sleep made you unable to hold conversations with your usual majestic vigor.
Come morning when CHIPPY!! made his way home using various different tubes and buses because his favorite tubes were sickly, he was although cold filled with the warm glow of accomplishment that only the special get to touch upon... I felt like Castro after the revolution, beard blowing in the wind, smoke rising from my mouth up into my nose (for visual aesthetics only). Che patted me on the back, i reciprocate, these are good days I say...
Then I get home and find out the Print is very large when I thought is was very small, CHIPPY!! and my free t-shirt that i got because my name is very CHIPPY!! was very big when i wanted it to be very just right, not CHIPPY!!
All in all it was CHIPPY!!
Footnote
POW (Lethal the Bizzle records)
Should be extremely commended, although I qued, I thought come morning it was going to get a bit naughty and CHIPPY!! was going to have to CHIP out a few CHIPS, but the ticket system was great and line security provided incredibly polite, friendly and handled everything to a T. There was also security in plane clothes in the middle of line throughout the night.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by dinomaa on Dec 13, 2009 15:52:57 GMT 1, Feeling worse today than I did yesterday no way I'll be doing that again. As for all the talk about flippers deserving the money for all their hard work queuing - have to feel if there wasn't any flippers I could have just got up early on saturday and easily bagged one. AS for the nutters who get inline first why??? just means your starting the pain early for yourself and everyone else. Please next time if you get down there and theres no one in the queue GO HOME COME BACK LATTER.

This is probably one of the most important things.
If these people hadn't started queueing and caused all the hype and panic on here everyone would have been able to stroll down on Saturday morning to get one.
This forum is it's own worst enemy really. You moan about the flippers but then provide them with the information they need.

It certainly didn't help. I was planning to get there for about 5-6am but a mate call at 9am on friday saying there was already people queuing !! So I had to change plans and get down there nearly 12hours early, now I'm probably dieing of hypothermia - nice.
(Don't think I'd hack it as a homeless, know which charity getting my pennies next year.)

cant you read a simple statement, I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRINT. and also stated that to SELL this, ebay would be a better place.

As far as i can see the only people moaning are those that would not or could not be bothered to make it.
