Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by willywonka on Dec 13, 2009 16:31:10 GMT 1, Dear CHIPPY!! Of course not. It was in reaction to people moaning about flippers for 12 pages. They can either do something about it to help themselves or stop moaning. Willy. Dear Mr Willy Do you acknowledge that the monetary gain involved in acquiring a Banksy print creates the said hype and all that entails is inevitable? Yours sincerely CHIPPY!!
Dear CHIPPY!!
I couldn't really give a Fuck to be honest.
Regards, Willy.

Dear CHIPPY!!
Sorry if I offended as it was not my intention. I am just not interested in discussing monetary value or how if affects things. If you would like to talk about the art that is cool. Tell us what you like and what you have on your walls.
Best Wishes, Willy.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by twinkle on Dec 13, 2009 16:42:07 GMT 1, Hello to all, thought I'd add some un-original words to this debate, and in so doing get off the mark in terms of posts.
The flippers are a negative I grant you but anyone who did queue through the night deserves at least some reward, whether its some cash or the print itself (something I will always keep and cherish). I mean it was fantastically cold (toe tinglingly numbing), Commercial Street was the jungle of the manic, it officially got quiet for about 10 mins around 5am, we dealt with fights/drunks/priests/prats and each added to the texture of this "event" and are not to be forgotten.
Another thing that struck me (no it wasn't the beer bottle that flew into the street) it was the broad spectrum of people in the line. And that perhaps is the reason for debate here, the crux. Whether you are a die-hard wrapped in tents and sleeping-bags, or your worthy students or media types concealed in cardboard, your business professional clad in North Face parkers or your opportunists shrouded in bemusement we were all there due to the hype sounding the artist and one way or another are ALL simultaneously perpetrators and victims of this. Personally I think its this kind of tapestry of people, this diversity, that should be applauded and celebrated, and as a great thinker on Friday said, "this Banksy thing, it is what it is.......
Thanks go to my cardborad box fellow citizens, to Phil, Rod of iron, Peter the great, Dean the don, Ace Alex, and Mr and Mrs Swedish superstars which made losing my Banksy virginity the special moment it always should be.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by skitch on Dec 13, 2009 16:47:37 GMT 1, Mentioned this point earlier on a diff thread about blacklisting. Can flippers really get done by pow for selling? i mean i only had to give a name, no email no address etc would the person you selling to be the one dobbing your name into pow??
also do people that got the grey still have a greedy chance for the green??

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by chippy on Dec 13, 2009 16:49:59 GMT 1, Sorry if I offended as it was not my intention. I am just not interested in discussing monetary value or how if affects things.
Dear Mr Willy
It would take a little more than a crass sentence used in order to avoid points made, to offend me my friend.
You state how you are not interested in discussing monetary value or how it effects things, I present evidence A to the jury:
This is probably one of the most important things. If these people hadn't started queueing and caused all the hype and panic on here everyone would have been able to stroll down on Saturday morning to get one. This forum is it's own worst enemy really. You moan about the flippers but then provide them with the information they need.
Is this not discussing how monetary value effects things? If so, according to you it "is probably one of the most improtant things" to be addressed.
These are your words which I responded to, making the sole point that hype did not come from two desperate men in tents.
Your response was and has been to not acknowledge the point raised.
Willy by name...
Yours sincerely
CHIPPY!!

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by craigf on Dec 13, 2009 16:50:09 GMT 1, NOT GOOD FORM. this is a forum for art lovers and collectors. you clearly have no interest. go sell it on ebay. SILKY can you do your bit and remove all thread looking to flip this?
Why? this is a sale and trade section. Are we now going to put time limits on how long before a print is sold out it can be sold on here? I'm not going to buy at this price, but a forum member drops to a price I would pay I'd prefer to do it here rather than ebay

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by oneeye on Dec 13, 2009 16:51:35 GMT 1, I actually feel sad for this guy. He stuck it out and froze his ass off and was fortunate enough to land a piece of history. To sell it the next day for a quick grand is so short sighted. But hey, obviously a grand is a big deal to him. In ten years time, he'll realize what a fool he was. Sell on! I got no problem with it.

in your opinion its not, but to the person who bought it it obviously is worth that. it is a great print in my opinion.
but thats why art is so fantastic, everyone has different opinions and tastes. thats the beauty.
p.s. something is always worth what someone is willing to pay.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by anthoz on Dec 13, 2009 16:56:43 GMT 1, First ebay auction just ended on the grey at 1650. Imho this is a pretty low price for a signed ed of 250. This I suspect is due to xmas/recession factor and the fact that people are hoping to bag a green. either way the image obviously doesnt appeal to that many people and I would say the current off ebay price for one of these must be 1500 at best surely?

I think the selling price will be determined once the green edt has dropped, many people will not bite the bullet whilst they still have a chance to win on the lottery, and imo this image is an improvement on donuts.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by mookie on Dec 13, 2009 18:01:39 GMT 1, isnt this now the cheapest signed banksy one can buy on the secondary market?
Donuts and trolleys are cheaper. Although the first few of any new banksy tend to go for a little higher than the settling point. I think Nola was selling for nearly £2.5k straight after release then dropped to £2k after the new year.
Really annoyed with myself for not heading down on Friday night now. I thought I might have been too late setting off from Bristol at 8pm but turns out I would have had plenty of time. I'm surprised that 230 had not made the queue earlier to be honest. Guess if you are not feeling the image completely it might have held back a fair few people from spending 15+ hours on a cold london street. See what my luck is like with the lottery.
Hope they do first come first served next year and give a little more notice. I think this and a lottery split work well. If you really want that banksy at cost then it's yours for a little pain.
