The best way to describe the methodology and technique of the mono-distortion is MEAR is basically becoming a human screen-printer without any screens or equipment needed. It is very similar to the process of screen-printing, except MEAR paints out every step and layer by hand (and all mono-distortions in the series are original, hand-painted works).
First, he will always create a completed prototype (pictured in the initial post @ the top of the page). After the prototype is completed, he will then start building each piece out, layer by layer. He will do some pieces in the series from start to finish (for our photography and documenting of the process) but most are done in a series of one component at a time. This keeps a very consistent flow and also allows him to spend an equal amount of time on each piece. It also causes him to be very free in terms of continually varying some of the different hand embellishments that make each one so unique. Further, if he seeโs anything or (from taking a second look) is not exactly happy with even a small detail, heโll put it back in the stack and go for a round 2 to perfect it.
