DFace - New York - 12th Sept - 10th Oct, by Wearology on Sept 12, 2009 11:03:42 GMT 1, It's 5:30 in the morning - but I know you guys across the pond want to know everything as I would too if the roles were reversed. I don't know if I am going to get blackballed by the art community but a little birdy told me last night that a print from one of the pieces from this show will be released very soon (not in America) and it has nothing to do with superheroes, punks. Most of the sculptures were for sale but not all of them - I can not believe the detail on the used wooded school desk tops - I spoke to DFACE about specific pieces and he said which ones were hard to make and which one's were his favorites. I only picked up stickers and postcards for n e 1 that e-mailed me prior to the show. There were other freeblies but I only have 2 hands a 1 was reserved for my drink at all times and the other was for the piece of art I bought there. They were giving out popcorn and people were dumping out the popcorn and putting the boxes in their pocket so I guess they will b popping up on EBAY soon. I also noticed silver helium balloons on the ceiling shaped like his iconic DDOG. The whole room had a giant multi color swirl going thru it and in the middle of the swirl was a fake eye glued to the floor - DFACE kept a very low profile and only took pictures for the photographers with a small canvas in front of his face.

what do you think? as long as there's over the top praise - there'll be a desenting minority to balance it out
and looking at those pic's i will continue to do so
the punk queen image is in all honesty weak - i still haven't heard a decent reason for D revisiting this image in a such a manner

Got to admit it does look more impressive seeing it that size. The crappy pic on the website just didn't do it justice. Moral of the story......wait until you see work in the flesh before passing judgement.

The 2 pics I posted were taken by a junky phone camera u have to see these in the flesh. I have to say the highlight of the show was his sculptures - they were so detailed and unique.

the show really does look great and thanks to the people who posted pics... didnt really know the size till seeing from pictures and think and fingers crossed show is well received over there... the sculptures absolutely love wonder what price they are? thanks for the pics and hoping see some more over the next few days...!...s

With the exception of me having to use my blackberry to take pics it was way worth the s**tty commute in the storm. My blackberry can't get very wide so I had to resort to most close ups. However in one pick you can see kaws lurking in the background.
Nice chilling with wearology (in pic on left) while waiting to catch the elevator. Wish I met more banksy dudes. I think I'm about to put a bounty on the head of the guy how bought Unamercian Graff. I love that piece and you know you'll be board with it soon so why now avoid the aggrevation. Sell to me know!
The print was perfect. Not easy to wrangle but its real nice at a perfect size. I was also able to make a random trip to KR and pick up one Ryan McGinness's new book. Good trip for sure.
