Dont be stuck with a print you dont want! Thanks for the comentry btw.
As a collector of D*, I have been left with mixed feelings on this show. Hate the print as I dont think DSTQ could have ever been bettered and I just couldn't live with the 'wonky mohawk'. Rest of the work has been brilliantly executed though I still feel underwhelmed. I feel that images and concepts used throughout all works are old and boring as far as development goes, there is nothing really new from D* here. I didnt get anything from this show that I didnt expect and frighteningly, I'm not shocked by it. The majority of us feel the same, some will slate it, some will defend it, I will just accept it.

He is a nice guy to deal with so just PM him with your trades offers.........easy really
I'm thinking these won't be the most profitable prints on the bay, save possibly the very first one flipped when there's still moderate interest

DFace - New York - 12th Sept - 10th Oct, by radarwax on Sept 15, 2009 5:40:27 GMT 1, So I'm back on the West Coast after a trip to NYC to see this show. WOW! What a AMAZING SHOW!! I'm was so blown away by the pieces. I cant explain how much is missing from each piece pictured the in preview. I do really think D*s soul did come through in the pieces and the main Gallery room. The sculptures were a real suprise. Very detailed and cool concepts all the way around. The desks were a marvel as well. The detail to get the shading and depth in carved wood was very cool. Ive never really seen anything like that before. The HPM pieces we also a highlight for me. Great size and just a ton of depth. Each of edition of the HPM pieces are also different a little and hand detailed. Over all a really great show. Im really happy for D*.
Before anyone slags me. Yes I have a few D pieces. What can I say, I like his art and Ive bought what I like.
If your in the area you should really go see this show. Its big, bold and a great display and excution of POP art.

DFace - New York - 12th Sept - 10th Oct, by veralynn on Sept 15, 2009 7:00:10 GMT 1, it is up to wearology what he does with his stuff and many people are thankful to him for getting stuff from the show. yet again its the same people that have no interest in this show just jumping on backs and its not on.
Wholly agree Mr Freerange, it is indeed up to him what he does with it. But his initial post on the one hand said he wasn't interested in financial gain and then on the other said he would swap it - only to clarify later (after his somewhat (in my opinion) overly bilious rant in my general direction) his true intentions, one of which is to swap for a print of equal (or lesser) value, well what's the value? In excess of $350 therefore a book, if not paper, profit.
If Jonathan Levine allowed one man to line up 7 of his virtual mates for this print then they have (once again my opinion) compromised their integrity. I'm allowed my opinion.
This forum seems to have evolved into one where trading art just bought straight into a piece of higher value is OK and I personally don't see how this differs greatly from 'flipping' which I accept is part of this life.....
In my initial commentary I commended the effort expended, good that Wear's posse line up for a very public show of support, that must be very gratifying for such a sensitive soul.

A member who arranged to have this print consequently didnt go ahead as he arranged it via some other means, thats why J had this one over thats all.
I second that. A good friend, who will go the extra mile for a forum member, without ever expecting anything back. Wears PM's have always brighten up my day, and they still do.

DFace - New York - 12th Sept - 10th Oct, by Ruggs on Sept 15, 2009 9:07:17 GMT 1, I don't want to pour more fuel on the fire here, but I wonder what peoples opinions would've been if the same scenario would've happened outside BRP (not that it ever would, just giving an example). Imagine queuing most of the day waiting for your favourite artist's latest print only to find someone had managed to blag seven of them in one go. I know if i'd been one of the unlucky seven punters who should have been eligible for one, I would have been left feeling ever-so-slightly pissed.

DFace - New York - 12th Sept - 10th Oct, by Deleted on Sept 15, 2009 9:23:35 GMT 1, I'm guessing all the support are coming from those that gained in some way ruggs. I don't particularly care about what people do with their prints immediately after purchase, but it does make me laugh how peoples morals change when they are getting something out of it, typical of this place.
I'm really disappointed in Lavine to be honest. The whole point of this show was to get D* into the US art scene, that ain't gonna happen if you're gonna sell 15% of the extremely limited edition prints which were STRICTLY 1 print per person, all to one guy to help out a load of already established D* followers back here in the UK who will probably sell em on by Christmas anyway.
Disappointing and pointless...
