as jusdeep said not as great as marchs show, pam glews were really impressive. A couple of other artists i liked, massimiliano longo and rob heffernan.

Affordable Art Fair , by jay1882 on Oct 22, 2009 17:33:41 GMT 1, Agree with the opinions expressed here. I thought there was some quite interesting work in the recent grads section....and it felt a real let down to walk into the main area and be confronted by a barrage of dog and cow watercolours. A few bits and pieces at the Jealous gallery stand, I thought....at least they seemed to put some effort into the presentation of their stand. www.jealousgallery.com/

Affordable Art Fair , by Happy Shopper on Feb 19, 2010 13:19:15 GMT 1, I've always found it very disappointing. Loads of pictures of Cows, 50s cars and average portraits. Of course you get the odd exception, but it's not like walking around the Contemporary Art Fair (the one at the Business Design Centre).

Affordable Art Fair , by jusdeep on Feb 19, 2010 14:01:29 GMT 1, Each to their own really, all depends what you're into . To be honest the last couple haven't been great but on a positive note the Spring show is usually better than the Autumn/winter. I missed the CAF this year but last years was a good visit. I suppose it all depends on what you have to spend. AAF everything is 3k and under so a different market.

Affordable Art Fair , by edcase on Mar 13, 2010 1:10:26 GMT 1, Anyone interested in works by Katrin Fridriks from the 'show us your art' thread (of which I remember there were a good few) would do well to come to the affordable art fair in London this weekend to check it out in person at The Future Tense stand F6. There is only one canvas work left, but we have some fantastic works on paper, along with a selection of original works from our other artists.
I have a small number of comp tickets left, if you want to come along email me on ed (at) thefuturetense.net with AAF in the subject line. First come first served.
Anyone in Berlin can also catch her larger works in a show at Circle Culture gallery in a show alongside Marco 'pho' Grassi and Holly Thoburn: www.circleculture-gallery.com/exhibitions/there_is_no_such_thing_as_a_good_painting_about_nothing/
Sign up at www.thefuturetense.net for more info on a UK show for Katrin later this year, along with info on our other roster artists.
Hope to see some of you there this weekend.

Thanks - your piece is a beauty, amazed you haven't shared it yet!
We didn't do prints in the end - we went with a printed background with hand-painted original over the top. Will try to post an example now while the fair is quiet.

Affordable Art Fair , by edcase on Mar 13, 2010 12:50:17 GMT 1,
Here is a quick shot of several of the Fridriks works (plus 2 Mark Webber New York maps).
The Fridriks works feature a photopolymer gravure print background (the black calligraphic image) with hand-painted acrylic on top. Each piece is a unique painting and takes the same time as her canvas works.
The paper is 70cm and we used a 60cm plate so you get a lovely natural 10cm frame within the paper from the impression of the plate during printing. The print part was done by Thumbprint Editions who do the Hirst etchings / prints, Anish Kapoor prints, Chapman Bros (check the latest sothebys print catalogue...you will see their name a lot!)
The edition is 17 unique variants.
Prices are £1950 and there are not many left so if you can make it to the fair please do!!
thanks ed

Good idea IMO...
I’ve yet to see the canvas I’m afraid (apart from on the jpegs you sent a few months ago)!! Seeing some of the art I’ve bought since leaving the UK last year is one of the things I’m most looking forward to on returning to Blighty in a few months…
Sounds like the show was a success; I wondered how long it would be before people started noticing Katrin’s work…

That piece is called 'The Discovery Walk' and is on the My Life In Art website: www.mylifeinart.com (pm for you, Daniel).
It was located right next to where Bill Drummond did his sales pitch for Richard Long's 'A Smell of Sulphur in the Wind'....did anyone grab a part? I'm now the proud owner of a piece of work by a Turner Prize winning artist....albeit 1/20,000.
