King ROBBO π¬π§ Banksy v King Robbo β’ Street Art, by alexnh123 on Mar 1, 2010 12:24:50 GMT 1, Idiot needs to give up on this now; we get your point! Interesting that Banksy has the before and after on his website www.banksy.co.uk/outdoors/horizontal_1.htm showing some toy throwup on Robbo's piece before Banksy did his. I think this is Banksyβs way of justifying what he did, - he actually leaves about as much that was originally visible when the crap throw up was on there. So really Banksy hasn't really ruined his piece anymore than it already was, and what he's done is enhance the piece and brought about a lot more attention to it (to Robbo). So i really don't know what his problem is. I honestly reckon that's how Banksy felt about it to; so it was probably a shock when Robbo didn't see it that way and started to pathetically and irritatingly take out Banksy's pieces with childish and grammatically incorrect retorts. I can only assume this latest amendment to one of Banksyβs piece is self referential!

I think its enough now from "Team Robbo", he is well known now in the graff scene. I'm sure much more than before! Crossing more old Banksy pieces now is mean to me!

King ROBBO π¬π§ Banksy v King Robbo β’ Street Art, by daveart on Mar 3, 2010 21:51:56 GMT 1, I found this an interestin read...
WSJ.com By GABRIELE STEINHAUSER LONDONβIn the predawn hours of Christmas morning, a 40-year-old shoe repairman who goes by the name Robbo squeezed his 6-foot-8-inch frame into a wet suit, tossed some spray cans into a plastic bag, and crossed Regent's Canal on a red-and-blue air mattress.
Robbo, one of the lost pioneers of London's 1980s graffiti scene, was emerging from a long retirement. He had a mission: to settle a score with the world-famous street artist Banksy, who, Robbo believes, had attacked his legacy.

King ROBBO π¬π§ Banksy v King Robbo β’ Street Art, by Stinky Pete on Mar 4, 2010 1:48:57 GMT 1, Robbo comes off like one of those tragic contestants in the early rounds of american idol quite sad really
"As he watched the auction, he mused about his own past and future. "I'd love to have seen my own stuff in something like this," he said.
Mr. Samuel has asked Robbo to do his own show later this year, and, with a family to support and the thrill of his recent outings still fresh, Robbo is tempted."

If he and his team keep it up I think they will spoil the little resurgence in fame that he had from the King Robbo piece. I'm already bored of it and it just seems like desperate attention seeking now.

The bit about Robbo's piece being in 'good shape for nearly 25 years'...was stretching the truth a bit too.

King ROBBO π¬π§ Banksy v King Robbo β’ Street Art, by Deleted on Mar 5, 2010 16:03:45 GMT 1, Looks like 'Team Robbo' visited Essex Road yesterday...
... the Tesco flag on the 'Very Little Helps' street piece is now a flag with 'HRH King Robbo' written on it.
... they've even hit a little stencil of a dog, which I don't believe is a Banksy piece. It says something like 'Get Down Banksy - HMV Robbo'. (I'll correct that over the weekend if it's wrong, just flashed past it on the bus.)

i think it's pretty funny, at least they're adding to the pieces in a cmoic way and not just tagging over the top of them. means they're adapting and evolving rather than disintegrating. it's street art after all it's meant to have alimited lifespan....

just gone past the 'very little helps' piece on Essex road. It does indeed read 'HRH KING ROBBO' on the flag now. I'll take a photo on my way back.

King ROBBO π¬π§ Banksy v King Robbo β’ Street Art, by Cedric Mnich on Mar 8, 2010 14:03:49 GMT 1, All that shit is plain marketing. Except graffiti community certainly no one in art world knew about Robbo. Now, you can expect a ROBBO show in some gallery, prints, canvas graffitis, a book etc in the following weeks/months. I would bet it. Robbo most certainly wants his share of fame by now, knowing the fortune and celebrity of Banksy. Street Art is becoming more and more popular in Art magazines, exhibits and auctions and Robbo might want to be part of it and have a piece of the cake. I'm glad to see the pics of the painted Robbo graff'. Seriously, the graff had already been over tagged. I'm not pro-banksy (I don't care, I do not live in England and never saw a Banksy real piece), but he's absolutely right in his interview : if you make graffiti on public or private properties you cannot claim them to be yours. It is the exact opposite to graffiti philisophy, isn't it ? Now that stupid feud might lead to Banksy's stuff defacing and even if I am not pro-banksy, his street art is far more interesting than the tags of Robbo and his mates(which are, from my humble point of view, dog's piss on a wall and nothing else, just to mark some imaginary territory). In a feud between Art and primal instinct of territory, the loser will be art, for sure because the latest will use violence, through defacing pieces.
