Saber 🇺🇸 Graffiti Art • Los Angeles • For Sale, by Baurmann Gallery on Dec 4, 2010 6:23:03 GMT 1, Heck, here is even my direct cell...so if anyone ever has any questions, comments, issues, feedback or anything needed in regards to a print edition I am associated with, anyone is free to call @ 619-993-0755 as well.
But also note too, as I have stated several times, I have NOTHING to do with this edition other than being a fan of SABER's work and a friend of Modern Multiples & Richard's, so sorry if anybody did not like all of the photos or thinks there is an ulterior motive in posting, but I was just trying to add something valuable to the community (as not everyone follows links to external sources or even likes Facebook, where they were originally at).
However, I'm definitely surprised on some of the negativity that is detracting from how beautiful this piece is and what an amazing artist SABER is, to which I would really like the topic of this thread to go back to. Further too, the fact of the matter is these will sell out, whether or not the pictures were posted here or not & he has offered them for an incredible price, especially the HPM's. I just personally thought this piece was just a masterpiece & wanted to share something I really and truly am a fan of and some of the best work I have seen in terms of screen-printing (including the process versus just the end result).

Saber 🇺🇸 Graffiti Art • Los Angeles • For Sale, by RPM on Dec 4, 2010 6:40:21 GMT 1, I, for one, appreciate all the process photos. The print looks great and it's fantastic to see an artist so involved in the creation of a piece as opposed to just submitting the image to a printer. I was initially going to pass on this as I have one of the original flags, but the images are fast changing my mind and I may have to grab this. Damn Swoon and Saber are draining my bank account!
Thanks for posting and please continue.

Saber 🇺🇸 Graffiti Art • Los Angeles • For Sale, by alison03 on Dec 4, 2010 6:51:33 GMT 1, I do as well. I was a bit grumpy before but do enjoy the pictures. I am just on a netbook for the time being and my 10 inch screen doesn't do well haha.
Anyway I am also not sure where all the negativity stemmed from and am excited for this release and hope I can score either a regular or HPM...I have a feeling it's gonna be tough though

I guess he just finished up as well (at 10PM tonight) and MM just posted these... COMPLETED - Regular Edition: (of 80) COMPLETED - Black and Purple [was the Black and White but now switched to Black and Purple]: (of 15)
I've gotten a real close look at the newly finished prints and I don't know if any photo could do them justice. The shades of gray in the photo is really pewter flake, and has a warm shimmer to it. The paper is so textured and fibrous that inks pooled together and created different colors. It also has pits that failed to fill with color at all, looking speckled. The HPMs are impossible to describe, each one is completely unique. I can't wait to see a photo of the entire set!

Saber 🇺🇸 Graffiti Art • Los Angeles • For Sale, by gtf on Dec 4, 2010 12:47:29 GMT 1, I really liked the photos and it was so much nicer looking at them rather that scrolling through all the Banksy print release "musings".
Ever since the Mear One "Phoenix" progress photos I've always looked forward to seeing these type of posts. One of the few rays of light that keep me coming back to look at this forum.
The only suggestion I can make is that Baurmann splits the posting of the photos over the period of a day so that they don't end up in one lump for those using the last 100 posts.

Edit: Country bumpkin = slow download speed + small laptop screen.

Saber 🇺🇸 Graffiti Art • Los Angeles • For Sale, by bigtlt on Dec 4, 2010 18:52:03 GMT 1, Don't know if it's because I'm not from The States or because I get like the Grinch round Christmas, but, this does absolutely nothing for me.
It's a flag been scribbled on...And he's already done it....Many times.
Seems like Saber's flogging a dead horse to me, or maybe not, you yanks keep lapping it up.
Other artists get a fair bit of stick for doing different colourways of prints, this is the same thing, but everytime we get page after page of the same people commenting on them as the last time it was released, those same hardly make another post all year.

Saber 🇺🇸 Graffiti Art • Los Angeles • For Sale, by Deleted on Dec 4, 2010 19:49:13 GMT 1, Always makes me laugh when people reduce an artists work by just describing it. You can do this for any artist or work you don't like. Eg. ...
Eine.....all he does is paint letters on stuff. Faile ...... They cut out comics stick them to stuff. Jr.....he takes photos and sticks them to stuff.
also there's a slight difference between different colourways and variations on a theme IMO. Maybe Saber has over done this. I don't give a fuck. I'm not buying one. I do love them though.

Saber 🇺🇸 Graffiti Art • Los Angeles • For Sale, by RPM on Dec 4, 2010 20:14:55 GMT 1, I think it’s a completely fair comment saying that you don't like an image because you don't get it or because it bores you or because it does nothing for you. There are too many prints talked about on this forum that I feel exactly the same way about. It's definitely a case of "different strokes," you know?
However, other than it being a "flag,” this piece is absolutely unlike any of the others he's done. It's not an identical image, it’s not a color variation of prior releases, and it’s not the same paper or size.
Too many artists these days think a 2 or 3 color screenprint results in a piece of fine art. I personally disagree. For example, I love my Banksy print, but I'm not naive enough to believe that much work went into it. In fact, I'd go as far to say it’s actually the simplest (as far as work and effort) piece I have. By contrast, this is a highly detailed and meticulously planned edition where the artist has been involved in every stage of production. Just the sheer amount of work that has gone into this makes this something to take notice of.
Additionally, to find fault because an artist has found a particular image or medium that he is choosing to explore seems to be nitpicking. I mean, how many Campbell soup cans did Warhol work with? How many rats has Banksy portrayed? How many splatter pieces did Pollock make?
With these "flag" pieces, Saber has been making statements about the state of health care and the economy in the U.S. It’s simply a medium that he is exploring (in addition to continuing his works in abstract lettering and photo realistic cityscapes), not unlike Jasper Johns. He is also legitimately trying to make a piece of affordable art in multiples that is more than just a computer print out. Surely he should be applauded for that, if nothing else.
Also, for those that say he has milked the flag image to death, to date by my math, he has put out a grand total of 616 flag pieces (including next week's release). By comparison, Banksy has put out 2,075 rat prints (signed and unsigned), which also does not include originals or the bronzed rats.
Just my $.02.

RPM Well said!

That said; I think it makes the most sense for him to take his frustrations out on an American flag rather then try to convey his feelings and pass judgement or thoughts about a flag that is not of his own country.
