Saber πΊπΈ Graffiti Art β’ Los Angeles β’ For Sale, by machination on Dec 6, 2010 20:32:01 GMT 1, He's an American. That said; I think it makes the most sense for him to take his frustrations out on an American flag rather then try to convey his feelings and pass judgement or thoughts about a flag that is not of his own country.
For sure. I just mean it'd be better for people from elsewhere to connect to his artwork as well. Not that his work can't stand on its own already, but the "connection" feeling would be intensified. Obviously it's hard for him to just make other flags since this USA once is based on personal experience and is a commentary of sorts.
Most people from outside the USA would not put up USA flags unless they had some association to the country. Even artwork as nice as this... although this work is better than a regular flag if you want something more stylized and with effort put in (especially the variants). Not saying anything about the USA itself....just common sense.
Anyway, good luck to those who want one.

Saber πΊπΈ Graffiti Art β’ Los Angeles β’ For Sale, by BK83 on Dec 7, 2010 19:47:20 GMT 1, Whilst I agree with RPM's sentiments regarding Saber's work on this multiple edition and his use of the flag in general, I find this particular work to lack any pleasing visual aesthetic (Please know that I am referring to the artwork wholly in its compositional and graphic form, as I understand each one from the edition is hand-finished and therefore slightly different from the next).
But then again, maybe I am being biased towards my own Star Spangled Banner artwork that I was commissioned to produce for Interview Magazine last year.

Saber πΊπΈ Graffiti Art β’ Los Angeles β’ For Sale, by BK83 on Dec 7, 2010 22:03:40 GMT 1,
Confused as to why? My flag artwork is unavailable for sale... it was commissioned by Interview Magazine in 2009. They have the artwork. End of story.
By your logic, if I was "shamelessly plugging" the artwork (as you say), it would require us to travel back in time at which point I suppose I would also be "shamelessly plugging" Delorean's and the entire Back to the Future film catalogue.
If I wanted to shamelessly plug my art, I would have created my own thread in the artists section and asked Silky to give me a big red star with my name in a nice shade of beetroot juice.
I love Saber's work - he is a graffiti legend. Does that mean I have to love every piece of art the guy puts out? What world do you live in?
I've been a member here for four years - I was under the impression that this was, and is, an art forum. You know - a place for discussing art. My mistake if that is not the case.
Plenty of people on here can vouch for the fact that I rarely, if ever, make mention of my artwork, so if you re-read my post you will find that I was being more than a little tongue-in-cheek about the whole thing.
As Fat Bastard from Austin Power's would say "Oh everyone loves their own brand, don't they? This is magic!"

Its that old scam where they make them look like they are sold out if they are having a hard time selling them.
See POW's sofa for more info.
Its good really, keeps the market happy.

Mr. Joeschmo, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'm very sorry that you feel this way, but as I've worked in a couple of galleries and the odd print house myself I think my knowledge of their bullshit scams is first rate.
It makes your artist look like a right dollop if he sells a handful of prints and then they sit their from now until the end of time.
