Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by amsterdam9697 on Dec 12, 2010 22:54:34 GMT 1, Don't know if this has been mentioned, but surely the obvious way to have handled the off-line sale would have been to sell raffle tickets at the M&S show VLH style. This would have raised loads more for charity and cut out the problem of thugs getting hold of them through intimidation.
The obvious way to handle a future Banksy release is a timed release through POW for 24 hours. 2 per customer. Window of 24 hours to purchase the print(s). Edition size based on final sale numbers. Signed & Numbered. Similar to Audrey Kawasaki, Aaron Horkey, EMEK, etc. YES, it would take a few months for the entire edition of be signed, numbered and shipped, but give me ONE REASON why that's not a good idea? You're raising funds for charity. Why not satisfy the collectors demand, generate as much for charity as possible and MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY in the process?
... and regarding the posts about the Don't Panic editions, Bristol Show, Monkey Parliment, etc.... C'mon! Seriously... who are you trying to kid? Those are open editions of glossy, unsigned posters like the Farrah Fawcett's that you can still buy at the County Fair here in the US. I get where you're coming from, but in no way does that meet the collector's desire and demand for a quality Banksy release that's obtainable without being threatened by Ivan from Stalingrad... or Minsk... or Warsaw... or Bucharest...

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Warm Gun on Dec 12, 2010 22:56:48 GMT 1, I guess they'll divide the prints up between the UK, USA, EU and the rest of the world....wonder if it will be even though?
Didn't most of the green NBG go to the USA?

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by bonesy on Dec 12, 2010 22:57:25 GMT 1, Neither would a time release that ends up being an edition of 15,000.
A big part of Banksy's desirability is because they are rare, a time release would take that away. POW is smarter than that.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by curiousgeorge on Dec 12, 2010 23:31:14 GMT 1, CuriousGeorge manage to get to the front of both ques at Berwick and POW (nice to see the nice turquoise) although he rocked up late at both ones, don't know how, charm, bribery, BJ’s Any info. on this?
A combination of all three, AND later arriving in time and watching my position fall very quickly (10mins) Sorry
70-100 people being paid to queue and arriving en masse to queue, sorry i didn't spend a lot of hours travelling see that happen.Very far from being alone in this though i won't name 'n shame them as i see no shame in that situation. Queue counters were very frequent and each count was 15 -20 to me.It was do nothing and end up in the 300's,go home or take action
From the people i've heard who did the same and (oddly enough all being hangers rather than sellers) they too are glad they took action

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by love on Dec 12, 2010 23:42:54 GMT 1, Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that we arrived well back home. We'll (better known as german couple) write a longer statement tomorrow, that you'll see a banksy release through the eyes of a "tourist". Big hugs, to all the guys & ladies we met out there in big dark London.

Love! It was a pleasure meeting you in the Berwick Street queue and as chuffed as I am getting a print myself I was very pleased on your outcome. To have gone back to Germany empty handed would have been unfair. Congrats and well done!

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by grafik on Dec 13, 2010 0:03:51 GMT 1, You took the piss big style on both queues, if we all did what you did it would of been a total riot. No excuse for it, your lucky I am an easy going guy and also calmed a few people down who wanted to kick you to the back. Thanks for that, Dave. CuriousGeorge cut in the que. Other members can make of that what they will. Many people didn't cheat and left empty-handed. Some people won't care. Some will.
wonder why they all attacked me as a flipper when I said I would out Q jumpers.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by wizzy on Dec 13, 2010 0:16:37 GMT 1, This thread is becoming a bit heated now i reckon, It was a queue for a print on posh paper not a queue for a major organ, some people got one and some didnt for one reason or another, its in the past now so nothing that happened is going to change. Christ, whats it going to be like post lottery when some people will possibly end up with two or more prints while others have none?, will people say the lucky ones from the queue shouldnt have registered?,in which case how were they to know they would get one at the queue?. Its a print, you will not croak without one. (can you tell i didnt get one??).

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by yapsey on Dec 13, 2010 0:53:59 GMT 1, I was number 50 and my friend number 51. A couple from Germany (who were behind us at the queue in Commercial Street) who had decided to visit London for 24 hours on the off chance of a Banksy release arrived a few minutes later and were numbers 59 and 60. We later found out that 60 prints were available at M&S.
i met these two a few times - didn't see them on commercial street when the tickets were handed out - so glad they got something - really nice and very committed guys.
