Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by digitalkid on Jan 7, 2011 13:24:21 GMT 1, Are any 'keepers' getting a COA from POW? and is it true they cost £50? seem to remember them being free in the past.. Personally if i had got one from source i wouldnt worry about it, you know its real, its in your name at POW, so no need for the COA unless you're gonna flog it.
Yes I did get one from source but I'd like a COA all the same.. What happens if POW go down the drain in 20-30 years time or they have a major PC melt down and all the info is lost. For my own piece of mind I'd be more happy with one.

Credit card statements, email print outs etc should be fine for insurance and stuff like that. POW will have names on file too, id also imagine they are smart enough to have backed the info up in more than 1 location in case of fire/flooding etc

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by motor on Jan 7, 2011 13:57:18 GMT 1, I know it's real, POW knows it's real. But not my wife nor my kids. I paid cash and don't have a receipt, basically no other proof than the small card. If something is going to happen to me - they will be left with a nice picture which they MIGHT get authenificated... F uck yeah I want COA. Doesn't really bother me if it cost £50 but COA is a must IMO (rather sooner than later).

I doubt very much Banksy signs his own name anymore, why else a change from his actual "joined up" signature to this more stylised signature that pretty much anyone can copy. And at the height of the forgery issue. If anything, you'd think his signature would get less legible the quicker he wrote.. this obviously takes much longer to write, doesn't make sense unless it was devised so others could write it.
No big deal either way..but it is one of the reasons I prefer the earlier prints.

its called Brand identity luv.
Hand writing is still the same. There is no reason for an artist not to sign their artwork... its a silly comment

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Ruggs on Jan 7, 2011 14:14:49 GMT 1, I e-mailed Dora soon after getting my CYW print stating my annoyance of having to shell out another £60+ for a COA and this was her reply:
Hi Mark Thanks for your email and I'm glad that you managed to buy a print, many didn't that day. We decided not to issue COA's with these recent editions and we hope this may stem some of the secondary market sales happening quite so imminently after the release. As we sold the prints at such a low cost we were also hoping buyers wouldn't mind so much about then paying for a COA as the process of it all is rather a lot of man work. We have registered the print in your name so if you don't want to pay then we can always confirm you as owner by checking our database... Thanks Dora
I sent her a further reply, but got nothing back!

Thanks for the education sunshine.. but it's actually called, "I can't be arsed signing 500 prints, can't we come up with an easier way to do this, I'm fucked if I'm flying back from Hawaii to sign that lot"

Exactly. This, and PC's form requires you to enter the purchase price when inquiring about a COA or to change to the registered owner.
Eventually they'll know who NOT to sell to anymore, just won't really affect anyone else's chances in a future lottery I'm afraid.

Exactly. It seems that POW are being lazy - the excuse in the mail above from Dora confirms this. I understand the flip being harder without COA (I would never buy one without COA BTW) and thats all good but maybe a time lag of 6 weeks/months to sending COA is the best bet. I want a COA for my own records so I guess I'll be paying £50 which I have no issue with as the print is cheap to start with.

Agree, and for all that I would have quite liked a blindstamp too.

is there some inner meaning to Lush over there in the UK like sorority girls using it to say their lips look luscious?
