Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Brushstrokes 75 on Dec 11, 2010 10:54:32 GMT 1, Queuing is a silly idea no matter how it's done. There are better ways and POW should be looking at the core fans of the artist as to how they can better serve them and limit the chances of flippers. There are constructive ways in which to do so, selling at market value is the most obvious and if they want to pass the work on for reduced value to true fans then introducing something like I posted earlier may also work.
Don't forget that most flippers are registered to POW as owner. Not everyone change the status which means you're just allowing flippers to get on and on and on....
The things is that they just don't care. They start to think in terms of value... Why not just make a really large edition.. Would def stop flipping or make the prints more affordable...

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by elwheel on Dec 11, 2010 10:55:53 GMT 1, I wasn't in too bad a part of the queue as we were just around the corner so in a narrow path and everybody seemed to get along, a few fights kicked off ahead of us, not sure if it was people trying to push in or just pissed people but it did turn really nasty at times. Spirits were still quite high as after god knows how many head counts were taken we always ended up being about 160 so we were unite happy, but then at about 7 o'clock 2 fat gorillas in suits shout out they have the raffle tickets to guarantee a print the queue didn't matter anymore, all down commercial street it was about 10 people wide where everyone went round the side, then people getting off the bus at the bus stop right next to the front just jumped in then cars just pulled up an more people just kept jumping in the queue, started to get nasty again then as people were just trying to squeeze through as much as possible and I probably ended up about 25 from the front when the doorman said no more. So after 9 hours and patience I get f**ked in the arse and for others they managed to bag themselves something they probably wern't even sure was until they were handed the raffle ticket. f**k POW for treating us like that
That would have cost you a few quid on Berwick Street...

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by neilm on Dec 11, 2010 10:56:47 GMT 1, Gangsters paradise. Only a matter of time before somebody gets shot or stabbed in such circumstances. I actually dont blame the gangsters for not bothering to hang this print in their wall, I wouldnt either, its a truly shit image. Paint over the horrendous dog thing and it's a half decent image. Madness.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by jonti1 on Dec 11, 2010 10:57:55 GMT 1, Just reading all this, look like leaving the q at 2.30 was the right thing to do for me. Is a real insult to genuine fans and customers to be treated in such a way. As i mentioned a couple of pages back. BRP dealt with the potential issues by photo's and tickets of those in the q which meant selling ticket or q jumping coundnt happen.

Fair point but having to produce your COA on earlier purchase to get another at low rate may stop them or you pay full whack.
Maybe the days of getting one for 5 times less that their true value should be over. I know this doesn't sit well with some. There have been some good suggestions, credit card info being one of them. There has to be a better and more open way.
i think they do care though, otherwise they wouldn't have tried new ways of release. They just haven't got it right yet.

absolutely awesome atmosphere....everyone in that line was friends. was great.
i know the problems from POW cause i was there, but the last line of the day made up for it.
shocking security though, really shocking. if they had handed out tickets at 2am none of this woulda happened.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by muti on Dec 11, 2010 11:16:10 GMT 1, I was pretty excited about queuing, the last time was BRP and their release of the TMA New York print which seems like centuries ago, met loads of Forum members and had a great time, last night I had to leave, the mob had taken over and what annoys me the most is knowing that the large majority of 'thugs' who were clearly 'hired' to grab a ticket at all cost will get a print. lessons will be learned from this and heres hoping that all of us genuine collectors will one day have our chance to own one from source.

I think those days are gone. You are better off saving up your pennies and buying one a reputable forum member.

MAYBE DOWNLOAD IMAGE OFF POW WEBSITE, PRINT ON LOVELY PAPER, WRITE BANKSY ON THE BOTTOM AND BOBS YOUR UNCLE.
PEGGY LOOKED IN THE MIRROR THIS MORNING, AND DIDN'T SEE THE FACE OF GREED STARING BACK AT HER. JUST HER SILLY SMILEY WET BLACK SNOUT
AND JUST TO SHOW PEGGY HAS COMPASSION FOR ALL THOSE WHO MISSED OUT, PLACE ยฃ1500 ON BIG BUCKS TO WIN THE WORLD HURDLE IN CHELTENHAM IN MARCH. THAT WAY YOU'LL GET YOUR HARD "EARNED" MONEY, WITHOUT SPENDING A NIGHT IN THE COLD, AND GET TO SEE SOME PRETTY HORSES TROT AROUND A RACE COURSE.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by rsj on Dec 11, 2010 11:29:33 GMT 1, I was queueing all night last night as well. Same story - should have had a good chance of getting the print without the astonishing amount of queue-jumpers. Walking down the queue, it was easy to identify some groups as obvious flippers (some came with the whole family plus relatives).
It was not freezing, but it was rather windy and cold, especially around 3-5am. The mad rush around 5am killed it for me. There was no order, and people at the back just ran outside of the queue and rejoined near the front. This on top of random new people joining at the front.
By 6am or 7am, I just thought, POW should just cancel the sales and put everything on lottery. At least then there is some sort of justice done to the many queue-jumpers. I would be happier missing out knowing that some justice was done.
One of the main problems was that, there was no representative from the gallery there at any time during the queueing. The security guy turned up in the morning, and of course he didn't care anything at all about the sales, and just wanted to get rid of the ~170 tickets as quick as possible and get on with his day. I think POW was trying to distance themselves from the problems in the queue, thus hoping not having to deal re: queue jumpings etc. BTW, the amount of queue-jumping was absolutely shocking! I wouldn't be surprised to hear if more than half of the ~170 tickets given out landed in the aggressive queue-jumpers.
POW's man (Simon?) turned up, and talked about they thought there would be enough self-policing. Not denying any responsibility then. I see lots of genuine Banksy (POW) fans were very disappointed by the lack of any organisation by POW.
Truly disappointed. Good morning, and good night... zzz

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by v3rm33r on Dec 11, 2010 11:31:01 GMT 1, Sounds like the fans were shafted last night, can only be bad press for POW and Banksy. Real shame. So were the Berwick Street prints actually part of the run with a few AP's/Test prints thrown in to appease the fans, or were there actually 30 to be released from the store? Only 170 at Commercial Street after they told people 200 on their site seems a bit odd to me (although compared to the rest of the night is probably the only part that makes any sense!). Sorry for all you guys on here that had to put up with that nonsense, really pleased I did not go now as I hate injustice and would have got myself beaten or arrested for the cause.
