Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by andrewd on Dec 11, 2010 16:27:41 GMT 1, It's as well the fault of people who rushes to buy them straight off ebay at ยฃ3K.... If people would just wait, they wouldn't be as much problem as not that much money would be involved.... what is the average signed Banksy worth?
less than an above average Banksy

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Daniel Silk on Dec 11, 2010 16:28:12 GMT 1, I just think its better to tell people a time and date, and how its gonna be released nice and simple, so everyone knows whats going on and how its gonna happen. People want a nice Banksy piece to enjoy up on the wall at home, and would maybe rather not have any baggage attached with memories of waiting in the cold for weeks, or sleepless nights waiting and wondering. Or maybe they do? I just think it should be about the Art, and less about the process for trying to get one You honestly think that would have been any different? Last night wasnt about how POW released the print - it was about the 150 or so speculative people at Berwick Street, who on mass made that dash across town, who had mates queuing up at POW's offices Thats where the problem imo stems from. It was these collusions/hedging of bets, that caused the problems, and no doubt had the location been Berwick Street, the same issue would have occurred.
It looks like they had some sort of plan but ended up making it up as they went along. How can you tell people last minute that its at POW, after you watch them wait in the cold at Berwick Street Then watch them rush over to POW, and then later say they are actually now gonna release some at Berwick Street Who thought that was a good idea?
I'm not there, so maybe I have it wrong but isn't that whats happened?

yes thats what happened.
Im pretty certain POW were not going to release it today, they just saw the masses of people and panicked maybe?
They said the Berwick sale was always meant to happen today, so maybe there were just going to release a few a day from there?

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Standard on Dec 11, 2010 16:32:16 GMT 1, I did think that as it was posted on here that Dora went out and spoke to some of the queue. they must of reacted badly to the situation, either that or Dora deliberately held back from informing them that they were going to be releasing the bulk elsewhere?

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Wearology on Dec 11, 2010 16:32:39 GMT 1, I watched ETTGS last night again - towards the end of the movie when MBW is interviewing Shep in Shep's apt. if you closely Shep has a book on his book shelf that is titled NO FUTURE in bright red lettering. You can also see Banksy's face in the reflection of the ticket booth window when Banksy and MBW go to Disney for the Guatanamo stunt. Banksy is wearing a navy blue and white checkered shirt. I also noticed that PAPI Batman the piece of art depicting Batman as an old man that was supposedly made by MBW in 2009 was hanging on his wall in his house in California during footage that was supposedly shot in 2001 - so when did Thierry really decide to become MBW or who actually created that Papy Batman.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by boaty on Dec 11, 2010 16:33:13 GMT 1, That is also a good point and to drive the point further - you can still buy for ยฃ10 Banksy posters from the Bristol show last year, as well as the DVD, which has some art in it, albeit, stickers and postcards.
someone tried to sell me a Klansman bristol museum poster for $125 a couple of weeks ago (the same one POW has had for sale for ยฃ10 for ages on their site) - wasn't sure if to laugh or cry at the notion....

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Wearology on Dec 11, 2010 16:40:37 GMT 1, I think the price of this print in the secondary market will reflect the price of any other signed print that is 1/25. I am not sure but I think the lowest number of prints for any given release was the soup can print - so the price of a signed Soup Can would probably be a good indicator of the future price of WHOOF.

Well, they've got 3 security guards down there now. So they were probably booked to work today for the release. It's busy down there too, so the hype worked! They also have a smashed window... someone taking things very seriously... or more likely an accident in the queue last night?

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by fielder on Dec 11, 2010 16:44:38 GMT 1, Don't know if this has been mentioned, but surely the obvious way to have handled the off-line sale would have been to sell raffle tickets at the M&S show VLH style. This would have raised loads more for charity and cut out the problem of thugs getting hold of them through intimidation.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by AFR1KA on Dec 11, 2010 16:44:58 GMT 1, Any word on the person that was kicked in the head during a fight? Did he go to the hospital is he ok? I would hope POW followed up on that because they could be in a real legal shit storm if there was any serious harm done.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by virtualmert on Dec 11, 2010 16:47:01 GMT 1, wow.
pretty crazy about how it went down. being from the states, I never had the opportunity to camp out for a print, but it seems like it could have been handled better. with banksys popularity, combined with the buzz for ETTGS I cant imagine they did not realize this was how it was going to go down. imo the only "fair" way to do it is an online lottery, or unannounced drop. sure some flippers will get them, but at least its a battle of wits instead of physical intimidation. i entered the lottery, but im not holding my breath. id love to get my hands on a signed banksy, but they are way out of my budget on the secondary market. good luck everyone.
