Banksy Street Art in Los Angeles, by mook on Feb 27, 2011 22:33:07 GMT 1, Everytime I see that piece I remember seeing the smoke from my rooftop.... If i had to choose one piece banksy did that would have to the one.
I've never seen that one before. A touching sentiment. My favourite of Banksy's is the one with the child crying, with her teddy, on a bomb site with tv crew holding back first aid men, to film it.
I was in London today for a day out and went to find the canal piece of the living room. I've never seen a Banksy piece apart from photos and once when I saw a rat piece in London about 6 years ago and wasn't aware what a 'Banksy' was, when the girl I was with pointed it out.
When I found it along the canal, it was like seeing a favourite band live. I had a buzz and stared at it for a good few moments, Imagining him drawing all those lines in a fast hit and run situation.
Then I snapped out of this brief daydream when I saw the scrawlings of the two inbred fuckwits Cartman and Vaginabond and frowned a little.
I followed the canal further and saw their names spunked on other walls and thought it was strange to try to prove to passers by that you can spell your nickname. I was expecting to see proof of their other basic life skills too, such as simple mathematics scrawled on the walls.. '1+1=2'.. '3 x 0 = 0', but they'd probably been buffed.

Banksy Street Art in Los Angeles, by mook on Feb 27, 2011 23:12:46 GMT 1, Also, the skate park area on the way to the Tate Modern, at the Enbankment is a splendid eye feast of graffiti. Like a tattooed arm of a mental but in a good way, worth checking out.

I cant say it looks like a banksy, the quality is pretty poor

Banksy Street Art in Los Angeles, by Ågent ßacardi on Feb 28, 2011 9:18:10 GMT 1, I doubt it's real. As you said, the quality is pretty poor, and I think Banksy is a lot more original than to simply mash up a couple of things he's done before. Carlsbad Crawl came up with a list of pretty compelling reasons why it's probably fake: carlsbadcrawl.com/?p=6118
More than anything, Banksy has claimed responsibility for his other works by putting images up on his website, and there's nothing about this as yet (and it's been a few days - he usually gets it up there pretty promptly)...

Ahh nice, I'd never seen it before. Really wish I had those books!

thanks for sharing this image.. I never seen it before, and I really like it.. prefer his "stencil look" pieces, but the feeling of this one is spot on!

To fuzzed (and anyone else who missed out on 'Cut it Out' when it was available):
"Cut it Out" is available as a scanned PDF here: www.fileserve.com/file/HKrMjpJ/Banksy%20-%20Cut.It.Out.pdf
Other than annoying ads and "pay us if you want the download RIGHT NOW!" schticks, with if you have the patience to wait a couple of minutes, the link is totally free and legit (I tried it out myself first). Compared to the actual book, the colors are not quite as brilliant (it looks like it can be fixed by simply adjusting the contrast if that's important to you), but it's all there.
I doubt it's gonna be on there forever, so grab it while you can.
There - that's my good deed for the day

I drove around Saturday hoping that i would come up on something that was new and, not tagged over. No such Luck, hope he comes back around again.

Wall, huh! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing. Spray it again!

So sad! Oh well, at least it wasn't cut out of the wall. Being painted over is all part and parcel of the graffiti life cycle, so as sad as the loss of a Banksy may be, at least it didn't go into the hands of someone opportunistic and greedy!

Banksy Street Art in Los Angeles, by TheCatalyst on Mar 16, 2011 23:23:02 GMT 1, I posted this on another forum but thought I'd share here as well. While I was taking pictures of the Banksy piece on Compton/Washington in LA, I found this. It's a chunk of Banksy's oil pastel that he used for the piece. I figured it made for a great souvenir.
Very cool, kind of like the ball of rolled up/spray painted tape I found left on the ground at another one of his pieces. Heh

Kind of sad to finally catch up to the end of the thread and see this. Oh well, life on the streets.

That's what I was thinking. More likely with the pink paint to be Brainwash. Stencil looks nothing like Banksy's work imo.

'Shit stencil makes the news'
Fuck me!
It's clearly not Banksy but even if it was it's hardly newsworthy.

Hahaha, i wonder if the gutter press and associated media are prowling around looking for any kind of street art so they can get some "Is it Banksy" headlines?.
