Haha, that's what happens when you try to buy art after a afternoon at the pub.

I was purchasing an unsigned barcode from a client in london but when i got the condition report from graham bignell there were a few issues, if i had bought it wouldnt have been for the gallery i would have offered it on it here as you guys/gals understand issues with earlier works better than the general public, the main print itself is in good condition bar a small handling crease which bignell says will come out no problem, the 2 tape tabs used were non conservation but again can be removed, there is a 3mm grey section around the outside where the mount was covered, bignell believes it was possibly from non conservation black mounting in the past and cant be removed obviously can be covered again by the mount, if anyone is interested pm me and i will pass on the chaps email and you can take it from there, please dont contact me regarding price you can discuss this with the owner, hes been a great guy to deal with and very understanding. The sale will have nothing to do with me im just passing details on.

Black mat is a killer over time.... wish framers would convey this as it will almost always leave color/staining behind over time when against the print paper. "Conservation" most of the time means non acidic but in no way does it always mean the material can not negatively affect your art.

I wouldn't mind a slightly damaged print. Just a genuine question : Why is everybody so hang up on "Mint" status?

In case you need to sell your art it will be worth the same as what you payed for it or even a bit more? That goes for slightly damaged prints too i guess. And a print looses it's mint 'status' when it was framed right? So why only buy mint prints when you are going to frame them and enjoy them on the wall?

nice opportunity to get a great print for a decent price then? It looks stunning with black mount so you'll have years of enjoyment anyway :-). In a situation where you can choose between a mint and one with the issues, of course everybody want the mint one. But that situation seems to be rarer nowadays.
