Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by woolander on May 23, 2007 12:47:00 GMT 1, Hello
I have a signed prints that have been professionally framed of Queen Vic and Love Is In The Air.
Both have been signed but don't have a number or stamp. I bought them from POW when it was in it's transition from Sleaze Nation. They are both on the same reciept along with a Bomb Middle England. They were purchased on the 8th April 03.
I'm thinking of selling them but was wondering if anyone had any estimates as to what you reckon they are worth?
I'd appreciate your help.
Cheers

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by manchestermike on May 23, 2007 13:55:16 GMT 1, Nope, the signature and the number in combination is. These are outside of the issue of these prints and therefore are basically posters (very nice ones though) with Banksy's signature on them.
There was an signed / un-numbered applause on ebay not long ago, which didn't sell (for about £2000)

They could be classed as AP's if this was in the early days. If they're bought from POW and signed, then I'd imagine they'd go for the same as the editioned ones. The signed and stamped but unnumbered Applause I got for 1500 Twas from the raffle they ran or... they accidentally sent out two to someone in the states, and that person refused to send it back, erased the number and stuck it on ebay. Bastards.. so, if that's the case, then this will be renumbered and their's will be noted as dodgy Just trying to find out which is which...

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by Strange Al on May 23, 2007 14:13:05 GMT 1, I'm with Nu and Carl on this one.
Assuming these were legitimately purchased from POW's predecessor and are part of the same print run as the signed/numbered edition, I see no reason why they should be worth any less than the signed/numbered versions.

Surely not. Unsigned and un-numbered prints don't reach anywhere near unsigned and numbered prints.
if I was the seller then I'd ring POW and check, they 'may' not have numbered them by mistake - those prints may have a number (just not on the print)
If not and they are un-numbered then they should be classed the same as backdoor prints, just signed

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by Strange Al on May 23, 2007 14:43:37 GMT 1, Mike - I completely agree that the backdoor prints are valued substantially less than those from the official edition. As you probably know, the "backdoor" prints (although from the same print run as the numbered edition) were removed from the printers and sold without the authorisation of the artist. It's the fact they're unauthorised which makes them of lower value (and rightly so).
If Woo's prints were bought from the legitimate source of Banksy prints, which Woo suggests is the case, then I would class these as something very different to the "backdoor" prints. They have Banksy's approval. Of course, I don't know whether Woo's story checks out, but for the purposes of this discussion I will assume it does.
Like you, if I was the seller I would contact POW in order to get the story confirmed. Although not 100% necessary, it'll certainly give potential buyers some additional comfort and ensure these prints fetch their true value.

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by tomhills1 on May 23, 2007 17:30:31 GMT 1, Seems from what I read here that POW keeps a bunch of extra prints around the offices and numbers them as they are sold. If ones get damaged in transit they apparently get repalced by these. But if POW is selling these prints without numbers that means the edition is sold out. Anyone who actually bought one from the limited edition should rightly be pissed and Banksy as well should not condone this. He probably is signing them before they number them and probably isn't really aware of every print that gets sent out. What's the sense of having a limited edition if they continue to sell prints without numbers. It is in theory devaluing the limited edition. And totally against the spirit of the limited edition concept. And these prints that are outside of the regular numbered edition definitely do not deserve the same valuation as a signed and numberd print. And it does not make them an AP just because they don't have a number. Personally I would value it around the price of a numbered but unsigned print from this edition. What the other guy said is true about the signed but unnumberd applause on ebay several weeks ago. That guy had to list that thing several times and I don't know if it ever sold. Nobody wanted to touch it.
everything he said. no number: not limited edition. end of. an artists proof would be labelled as such, someone on here recently (magrits ?) had one they were thinking of shifting.
the best you can say about this is it was a gift, or un-numbered by mistake. un-numbered is easy solved a gift makes it worth, for me, 50% more than an usigned, so just over £2k.
there was a set of five rats, all signed but un-numbered on the bay recently for £10k - £2k a pop, didn't sell and they were a complete set so probably more desirable.

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by Curley on May 23, 2007 17:58:41 GMT 1, If as you say they were bought direct from POW and with a receipt. i would suggest that you contact POW establish their provenance.
If that can be established to everyone's satisfaction, you have some very valuable prints.
Good luck

from POW? signed? got to be worth a mint. do your homework, get your facts straight and look forward to a christmas card from your bank manager
i'll give you £2k cash BTW

hey woolander, no-one professes to be an 'expert' although it quite often comes across like that. 99% of comments on this entire forum are purely conjecture and what-ifs. we all allude to something assuming it's fact, but don't think anyone doubted you for a minute. we all speculate as if it were a hypothetical scenario, although giving our comments as if it were 100% fact.
p.s give me your LIITA for £2k, i promise i'll look after it
seriously, put them on ebay and see how you go. start low and get interest and you will make some serious wedge. if you're nervy put in a reasonable reserve, around £6k each and take it from there. two nice pieces, shame to have to part with both. maybe just sell the queen vic?

I have seen a Signed "Love is in the Air" with no number (no LIITA's were stamped - only Tagged) that has a "Heart" in the right hand corner. It was a gift from Banksy.
I would certainly pay more for that than £2k
