Yep, recently had to sell my Gangster rat to pay bills. I dont have a family of 7, but being out of work for the last few months means the collection is being hammered.

I just meant its difficult to shift anything apart from Banksy and a few others. I've been trying for ages to get rid of some bits at well below cost and had no luck. Sorry to hear your out of work.

A generation ago a family could live on one wage and there was always someone at home to get the shopping in from the local stall holders.
Now even if you and your partner both work full time you barely have enough to get by and know one has any time to go shopping in the high street.
Trouble is with out a free choice the capitalist system kind of falls apart. If you only ever have the time/money to shop in ASDA in the end ASDA will be the only thing left.

Not sure where you were born, but that doesn't sound like the England I know.

They do a lot wrong and probably are too big but nobodys smashing up Primark, Wilkinsons, Amazon and the like who have probably had a bigger impact on the high street than the supermarkets.

Going right off on Stokes Croft Tesco videos, by mmmike on Apr 26, 2011 16:37:13 GMT 1, Less is spent on food because food cost and the quality of the food is much lower than it used to be. Pesticides, genetic modification, factory farms, processed, frozen foods, the addition of new cheap additives, adding cheap crops like corn and soy to almost everything combined with unsustainable farming practices, reduced transportation costs due to cheap oil, exploitation of labor and consolidation of power by major food and petrochemical companies have made food much cheaper at the register and infinitely more expensive in terms of the environment.

Going right off on Stokes Croft Tesco videos, by johnnyh on Apr 30, 2011 13:52:12 GMT 1, The Tesco argument destroying small business is a good one !!!!. I would however reccomend everyone who cares about small business and individuals to watch the first video again.
about 30 seconds in the first thing you see is a few guys turning over a trailer. not a tesco logo in sight. this trailer almost certainly belongs to an individual or a small business. as no logo certainly not a corporation.
so happy to be against tesco but busting stuff up is not really the anwser. Picket it etc if thats what they want to do. protest etc.
Also one of the reasons councils want tesco's etc is the economic impact they have. Not good for small business but with job creation etc and local suppliers etc it is positive. Thats not me saying I am a Tesco supporter. Butmany of the supporting arguments are not that sound here.
Also Tesco is a plc so anyone can own a bit of it for not very much money. Just buy a share and the more milk Wizbong buys the richer you will become.

I know this chap and he wouldn't even know what 'Tesco's' is. In the article it says about him putting slices of Ham through a local Mosque, which I use.
If this is the average person involved in the riot. May Allah help us all. I would take a guess the vast majority of people involved in causing serious damage, were just there for the crack.
Be all means protest, its not good that 'Tesco's' is taking over the country, but the best way is simply not to shop there.
There is a big range of shops on Stokes Croft. I would say most won't be effected in anyway. However there are many convienience stores and couple of newsagents that will be hit badly.

OMFG and to think I used to say no platform for facism, not now let them have their say, that two minutes alone does more for anti-facism than I ever could.
