Mount framing prevents the print touching the glass. Which can in damp conditions can become stuck to the glass. Its to protect your print as well as looking good

Can always use spacers as well if you dont want to go for a mount. Thats what I did on my faile stuff (way back in the thread)

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by bigdave on Jan 31, 2007 16:58:53 GMT 1, cheers chaps,
i got my granny print framed recently in a box frame so the print would not be touching the glass but i steered away from a mount frame because of the deckled paper.
do you think it's worth getting some of my older prints – which aren't on the deckled paper – re-framed with a mount to protect them???

bigdave, if your prints are touching the glass I would definitely get them reframed to conservation standards.

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by Run Pig Run on Jan 31, 2007 19:05:28 GMT 1, spacers are just cut up bits of mount board that run down the inside edge of the frame between the glass and the print. If you want thin ones get some acid-free mount board and cut your own. If you want deep spacers take it to the framers £15-20.

The framer was convinced the charcoal mount wouldnt look right, and kept suggesting creamy or white ones. I can forgive him though, as he is very much an old skool framer and normally deals with traditional sort of artwork, not a lot of street art. Did a top job though- and he said how good it looked with that color mount. I am happy with it at any rate..
Oh well... one down.. lots to go.

It is a 100% original and genuine unpasted Michael De Feo ( www.mdefeo.com ) and I really have no idea how best to frame this one. Its on the back of a JFK terminal 4 blueprint, on blueprint paper so it is pretty delicate paper. All suggestions gratefully received.

The pics don't do it justice but I used UV non reflective glass just because it was only a few dollars more. Black on black to give the print a little more kick but this print does require good lighting to show the cream base.

it was monochrome, he don't get much wrong in spite of his rediculous negative respect. i fit the trainers quip, not the decks, vinyl etc - maybe when i was 16! no offence. peas.
