Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by Daniel Silk on Jul 8, 2007 11:11:25 GMT 1, I was thinking about this the other day
If we are talking about Street Art, then I predict the following
DFace = Gonna go Massive in the next 6 months Dolk = needs a bit more time, but could become as big as Banksy in a year or two Hutch = I have a feeling he could really be one for the future Sickboy = I think we are gonna hear much more about him between now and Christmas

The key word in the this post is 'biggest'.
Who are the best three street artists not including banksy and why? makes for a better read. The answer to that, I'm not sure. I would love to hear some knowledgable voices answer that one.

There you go.
I'm in love with the caligraphy work and decided all too late to go for one (though not from the show).

Dolk and Hutch in the same sentence = a crime against humanity
Dolk = amazing talent that really comes across in his street work and canvas pieces. His prints are mere postcards and don't really capture his ability well. Check out some of the Flickr galleries here: www.thegiant.org/wiki/index.php/Dolk
Hutch, IMO, well my mother taught me if you don't have anything nice to say.....

I'd say CH, his stuff on the walls is just jaw dropping, then Matt Small for his mind blowing work on street reclaimed materials.

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by bacons86 on Jul 8, 2007 21:50:45 GMT 1, I think it's important to track who is an originator - and who is a follower. Hutch, seems to offer little more than the "banksy inspired" pop inspired stuff all over e-bay to me. It is nice to see so many styles emerging because I think it takes this from being a trend / fad to an actual movement in the art world. It is fairly safe to say that our streets will have unathorized art on the walls for as long as one can imagine... and for me - I love my prints, and have been tempted to invest instead of collect (certainly have profited off of some works to buy myself things I fancy more) ... but it's the artists that shape that landscape that will carry the most enduring influence. Banksy is the man, because he comes across powerfully in every medium. Shep has sold thousounds more prints - and as a percentage of original value goes up almost as high. He has grown as an artist, and he is the master of the silkscreen medium... while continuing to be the oriniator of the single most "put up" image in the entire history of graff. Faile obviously originate. - Dolk offers incredible promise outdoors - and I think his che may be the single most clever poster from POW - but has yet to transistion fully in my opinion to art on my walls. Micallef is not my taste personally, but I respect his talent - but generally don't consider his work to be street. Invader, I think is pure genius. I would love to be in a city where he has been recently with a map... Never cared for the Walker Mona Lisa prints on POW - but just went to his site recently and bought what I could afford and may go back for more... did I hear he may be coming to LA 08??
sorry... I am rambling - but I don't post often - and I like this topic. Names not mentioned, but whose popularity is strong and growing from the states are Sam Flores, Michael DeFeo (mentioned in almost every american street artist article as the flower guy) and I think making a name on both sides of the atlantic now Swoon. I regret coming a little late to the beejior works, cause I love it....
ok, ok, i'm done...

For me its DFace - just look at the line that was at stolenspace, even they were shocked. Incredible.

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by reados on Jul 8, 2007 23:30:23 GMT 1, its a really hard question to answer no one comes near to banksy, in influence or creativity apart from i guess Shepard F. I think mantis has come up with some of the most interesting images on the street but he's not as prolific but has good potential, as i have said before d face needs a strong idea of his own but still a popular artist, and my tip is Xenz keep an eye on this boy.
I just bought a luc Price not saying he's up there yet but just liking his cyclops image
