Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by Deleted on Dec 12, 2008 11:46:58 GMT 1, i dont ever see any faile stuff about the town, maybe in Hoxton or near a gallery, So for me faile is a no way. At least D FACE goes all city and not just 5 mins from a gallery in east London, which too many artists seem to be doing, leak street and so on. London is a big place. Art is for the people. Not a select group of Hoxtonite's.

Yeah, I think a lot of the Artists we talk about on here are pretty well known in the UK, So it looks like Nick, D*Face, Eine and Pure Evil especially are working on raising their profile in America and Worldwide

you wouldn't class either of these as particularly prolific...but I'm pretty sure Faile's hitter a larger area than D (i.e. New york)

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by onemandown72 on Dec 12, 2008 11:51:21 GMT 1, If this is in terms of work on the street then I can't see how you can get past Shep Fairey. Not my favourite artist by any stretch, but the guys is so prolific, and has taken a pretty high profile step with the Obama work. For talent coming out of the street and moving on it's a close thing between Neate & Parla. My personal vote would go to Parla, but Neate is getting stronger and stronger

Incredible Artist ;D But how many people own a piece by him? Thats the problem at the moment If people cant afford anything by him they are gonna look elsewhere. If he can get some quality print out at reasonable prices he can really go places

How can this possibly have a negative impact on his career! Crazy, you could argue that one of the reasons he is so succesful is the scarcity of his work. If anything releasing a series of quality prints at an affordable price goes against everything that Parla is about. He has never gone down this path and why start now? The success of an artist should never be relative to how affordable or accessable their work is to own. Certainly with regards street artists it's first and foremost how good their work on the street is, not how many prints they can knock out.

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by Deleted on Dec 12, 2008 12:01:19 GMT 1, well as im from a a graffiti back round i prefer to see artist use the streets as there workshops. I think going out for a month or so hitting your images up about town is 100 x better than coming on here with a bigcartel website and flogging your wares. Just my personal opinon.

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by Existencil on Dec 12, 2008 12:02:33 GMT 1, I honestly think Adam Neate is the next best thing. It doesn't matter what way you cut it, he has street in his blood and he has climbed almost as high in the commercial sense.
Micallef definately next, but I guess he's not street enough.

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by schlomo on Dec 12, 2008 12:04:33 GMT 1, I agree, Blek is amazing but his last few prints have been slightly off. Not saying anything bad about the guy tho cos i'm a massive fan. Parla would have to take it, slightly ahead of Walker and Dface, and then Faile and Blek in my view... Oh followed up by Sickboy, massive massive fan, love his work and theres no one like him......

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by Vegas on Dec 12, 2008 12:37:06 GMT 1, Started at page 1 of this thread and hadden't looked at the date and thought, wow! this thread has really brought all of the old crowd back out to share thier opinions..!!! Was looking to see if BONGO would dare post and then realised the dates and what a t**t I am...
Anyway, FWIW i think Neate is the 2nd biggest. Just look at what happened last month with the street gallary. And if he were to put a print for sale online it would be sold just as quickly as a Banksy..

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by anewspace on Dec 12, 2008 12:43:54 GMT 1, I think in the worldwide market
Obey is by far the biggest street artist in the world. Lets forget about personal taste.
Shep is producing 20 sell out prints a year min, At least one if not 2 large shows. His Obama print is iconic beyond anything Banksy has done.
You've got to think about how aware people outside the art scene are of the works of the artist. Faile, Neate, D'face and most of the others are still quiet underground. Obeys work is the most known, even if people don't know its him.

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by Existencil on Dec 12, 2008 12:51:24 GMT 1, I think Neate is stuck somewhere between the man on the street and the contemporary fine art gallery. A position not many others occupy. What should he do? Release editions to the masses like Banksy or continue to hold back from prints altogether? I bet it's something he's thought about before. Could he be bigger with a Banksy approach?

Who is the second biggest artist in the scene, by robinbanks on Dec 12, 2008 12:55:22 GMT 1, It gets on my wick a bit that so many people seem to be talking up Shephard Fairey because of his Obama poster.
It was, essentially, an advert.
Yes it was iconic and got loads of coverage blah, blah, blah... but at the end of the day it was an ad to get people to vote for a politician. Not exactly the stuff that this scene was built on is it?
If this sort of thing is going to be classed as street art then Oasis and those fcuking crap Cactus Kid posters might as well get a shout - they were all over the streets a few months ago.
