Banksy signed now the only option..., by bullet on Dec 16, 2008 23:39:49 GMT 1, i spoke about this a while ago while nola was going down, but got breezed over due to the 80 page thread or whatever it was, but it was touched on briefly.
It looks as though banksy will not be releasing unsigned prints ever again due to people faking the prints.
As i understood it, the last unsigned one was trolleys and that will be the last, so potentially will make unsigned prints quite rare.
Signed prints are seen as being harder to fake as they can be supplied with pest control etc.
so thats that. I quite like the fact that its signed only as it makes it that even more special when you do get one.
anyone got any views on this?

Banksy signed now the only option..., by redfred on Dec 16, 2008 23:47:05 GMT 1, I dont think its a case of signed being harder to fake but it could revolve around the fact that if you produce signed and unsigned editions you can buy a unsigned for x add aforged signature and sell it for 5x.

yeah thats exactly what it is, it is hopefully wiping that out so there wont be any issues when you come to buy one

Banksy signed now the only option..., by bullet on Dec 16, 2008 23:51:06 GMT 1, when was the last time you saw an unsigned in the last 3 releases?
its not hearsay mate, so dont turn this into yet another one of those threads, it was based on fact from the staff at POW on the open day, confirmed by a couple of people.
its a fair discussion, unless you want to go back to the stuey threads.

it wont turn in to one of those threads, unless you make it so. I think its a bit stale speculating - and until POW/Pest Control can confirm such a statement, then its pointless even discussing it.
Are these also the same people that told you that Banksy/POW wont be releasing any more prints online or the VLH online?

Banksy signed now the only option..., by bullet on Dec 17, 2008 0:09:39 GMT 1, this is exactly whats wrong with this place now.
people just want to dig all the time and if they cant dig they ignore.
pretty much sums up 99.99% of what arcam and many others do.
Arcam, lets see you start at thread on something topical.
and that does not included porn or bananas.

Banksy signed now the only option..., by mafekingnuns on Dec 17, 2008 0:12:54 GMT 1, The trick then is to get a signed Banksy in pencil, which would eliminate b/w trolleys and S&S, then rub the signature out and claim it was unsigned.

Banksy signed now the only option..., by Cocteau 101 on Dec 17, 2008 0:14:51 GMT 1, I have a receipt from LA with mine from the guy I bought them off, an old and respected member of the ebay forum who had two sets. Don't want to sell them as I love them but I'm sure that these will prove to be quite rare. Someone was trying to sell a set and kept getting slated that they weren't worth much, how wrong that could prove to be (the slating). Anyway forget the money they belong on the wall.

Freerange, I am not having a dig, i commend your attempts to start a discussion - however I think threads like this should be based on factual information which is straight from the horses mouth, namely POW, Banksy or PC. Otherwise it could be another one of those, my mates mates mates sisters boyfriend told me, type rumours

Banksy signed now the only option..., by bullet on Dec 17, 2008 0:23:02 GMT 1, there is several people that have asked and have the same response from POW. there has not been an unsigned since trolleys and after the set of unsigned LA prints, they made the decision apparently.
but hey, after talking with some main old members, through pow telling us, through banksy not releasing an unsigned on the last 3 releases and from being told face to face about the LA set. What do i know. Im going with arcam myself.

this meant they were very cagey about releasing unsigned prints incase anything else like this happened as a backdoor unsigned would be very easy to do. A signed not so...

Banksy signed now the only option..., by They call me Stephen on Dec 17, 2008 0:31:42 GMT 1, That guy is super slick and that is a fact!
I doubt banksy will release unsigned prints from now on in but how likely would it be for pow or pest control to confirm this...not very
I wonder how much longer pow will continue to sell banksy's work for such low prices...with nola, the grey rain nola release and then vlh and the amount that are now turning up on ebay for such inflated prices it makes me wonder why they should. The grey rain nola fiasco was released purely through peopleโs whining on missing out on the original print and yet they are turning up on ebay, what a slap in the face for artist and distributor.
Of course the intention of powโs below market price releases is to give prints to the fans but how many of them are actually ending up in โourโ (i use that word loosely) hands and not in those whose primary interest is making a quick buck? Would a banksy release sit on the shelves a bit longer if it was priced at a mark to deter flippers? I know I would hate this scenario as I wouldnโt be able to afford any future releases but banksy is at that stage now...
excuse my ramblings
