I am not insinuating that this person is trying to sell something that is not 100% authentic - but when it comes to certain artists from that era WARHOL & HARING especially "COVEAT EMPTOR" my friends.
Just out of interest
When you see the soup cans at auction, what would they do to authenticate them?

I happen to know a little bit about the secondary market for Warhol and i will bite my tongue in order to not ruin your potential sale.

I don't think anyone was questioning your motives on selling it here or bad mouthing you, I think it was more of a gathering of general information on obtaining some sort of COA, be it from the foundation, auction house or gallery...
Don't take it as personal jab, I don't see any of the post being aimed at you in that fashion at all...
Best of luck with it, it's a cracker of a print and anyone would be lucky to have it in their collection...

If you buy an Andy Warhol print, check that, any fine art print by a famous artist, think Dali, Picasso, Warhol etc. and it comes with a C O A ...you quite probably just got ripped off.

Common sense however can go a long way.

that's very true, that's why you run like hell (that's what I call common sense) when someone trying to sell you a $28k warhol print gets pissed off when you start asking questions ... yes, I've had that happen... The only COA I wanted was from the foundation, which as far as I'm concerned is rock solid, being the reason that it's the only authentication I wanted or needed...

I'm sure some deals have been done for Banksy Kate's on here valued in the tens of thousands without COA's so that shouldn't be a big deal. But a bit more info in the sales thread would be helpful. You wrote that it had been stored in LA and then that you got it from a gallery (I may have misunderstood). Perhaps you could say what paperwork you have by way of gallery reciepts and alike. Some dimensions would also be useful because its comforting to know basic stuff like that.

The main reason im selling this print is to fund my collection of Lichtenstein's....I think there are some words of wisdom out there, but i am a genuine seller who offers a full refund if not satisfied with the piece and its provenance, i would ask Wearology what COA's he has with his Warthols, i bet they are similar to mine, thats as good as it gets. there is no point in revealing all to the forum as i want people to email me with interest, however all i am getting at the minute is questions asking how much? then never hearing from them again ...so i feel this is probably a wasted excercise, and i agree with Wearology that a Banksy forum is not the place to sell a Warhol print, but as i stated i was cutting out the middle man. He kept meticulous records as has the Foundation and by and large there are precious few Warhol fakes which is quite telling given the enormous output of the artist. One has to be MUCH more careful buying lithos of modern art which has had a lot more forgeries by %. The highest profile fake Warhol's were the infamous Italian Marilyn prints which are easy to spot a mile away as the dimensions don't match up.

Either way im not bothered about a warhol on my walls so they dont really impress me other than in a financial sense, but the Haring are a different thing I love them. |

I sent him a PM after I did it and apologized and helped put him in contact with a potential buyer. I went back and read my comments and they were not specifically critical of his intent - but they were certainly not how I usually conduct myself - WIZ would not be happy with me. I have made nice nice with the seller and all is well now and as for the Haring's thanks for the compliment they are the "prized possession" of the collection.
