Innocence - Feedback Appreciated, by snowflake8888 on Jul 30, 2008 19:34:35 GMT 1, Hi, this is a piece titled "Innocence". I've donated this to Cancer Sell for their show. Hopefully it will raise some money if someone likes it.
I wanted to try doing this because I was frustrated not to get a Graf Geisha after waiting 4 hours and I resolved to do my own after THAT debacle and the encounters with flippers.
I've put in tiny flowers in silver paint on the pink obi. The refinement I'm working on is layers that will have added flower detailing in white or yellow on the lower red kimono and a depiction of leaves or cherry blossom petals floating in the air.
I know that I will need to make the white parts more defined to get the black lines on the image to stand out more.
I would appreciate any comments you may have, because it helps me get better. Thank you for your time!

Innocence - Feedback Appreciated, by bmjt on Jul 30, 2008 20:00:07 GMT 1, Following on from what I said on the ยฃ50 post, I'd love to see you go for more detail and layers, always love silver in any of it's forms, so pushing the detaied silver leaves would get my vote, as opposed to the more amorphous sprays of paint in the bottom left. Just go crazy and see what happens, looks as if you might be restraining yourself a bit, or is that the result of, and lessons from previous works?

however you can play around with the shadows cast by the dress more...you dont need to do those lines. let the shadows form the shpae of the body..err im not explainingmyself very well but clothing texture can help you...you need to find a good pic of someone wearing one of those dresses

Innocence - Feedback Appreciated, by snowflake8888 on Aug 4, 2008 13:25:22 GMT 1, This is my completed vision of the Geisha image sent for Cancer Sell. I put in flower layers, silver flower detailing on the obi, speckles on the hem and sleeves, two layer cherry blossoms in the wind. I've restrained the colours and kept the blue out of it and I must say it has a different effect to it. Thanks to bmjt for that.
I'm playing with a bit of the minimalistic, soft, Zen look here and don't want to clutter the background.
I'm going out this Saturday to paint it. Then I'll start on a new drawing and go wild.
I would appreciate any comments you may have, because it helps me get better and gives me ideas to try out. Thank you for your time!

Innocence - Feedback Appreciated, by snowflake8888 on Aug 14, 2008 14:09:52 GMT 1, Hi, this is what I did after my day out at the Matt Small Project. Someone had already painted a Spiderman on the door so I played around by adding scary eyes and a Venom symbiote on the lower body, before doing my stuff.
Embarassingly, I left my tag at home.
