My first artwork here (I have missed you so much), by jonesy on Aug 7, 2008 16:42:51 GMT 1, I am working on this small piece, hand coloured on black line digital print, 4''x6'' on A3. I like images to have quite a bit of white space around them. This is not a stencil, but a black line drawing printed on heavyweight paper and then hand coloured with a inks, acrylic paint, coloured pencil and other stuff, so it has texture and depth in its finish. Each print will be coloured in this way and will be quite individual.
This is the fist in a series using iconic images from film and tv culture, well worn themes I know but I do love a bit of a cliche and hopefully I can add enough of a twist to them to produce something a little different. I'll get one framed up and post that so you can see how the image works on a larger frame of white paper. Just wondering about including title (I Have Missed You So Much) on the image alongside signature and number when finished.
All feedback received with interest and thanks

My first artwork here (I have missed you so much), by colonelkurtz on Aug 8, 2008 1:00:37 GMT 1, I like the composition of having a small drawn/painted object on a large background...although in a gallery space maybe overlooked....but a rusting darlek, not so sure. You are posting on a Banksy forum, where messages/interpretation/depth are a vital part of the piece. Not really saying much to me, but maybe others?!
Your drawing/painting skill is good though.
Feel like i'm missing something.

My first artwork here (I have missed you so much), by jonesy on Aug 8, 2008 11:26:46 GMT 1, Thanks. Interpretation or 'getting' what I am trying to put across is a difficult one, because what I want to convey is one thing, what someone else will bring/take from it something else, which is why I asked about the title being a prominent part of the image.
With street art and graf being so immediate and direct there is usually no mistaking what it's about, so point taken about placing this on this forum, but it has been useful to see how others react to the idea.
I'm exploring the use of an image that is loaded with a lot of negative feeling, perhaps from childhood memories, to carry a different message about vulnerability and loss...don't want to get too artsy-fartsy about a drawing of a rusty dalek, just interested in putting contradictory themes together to see the result.
Thanks for the feedback..
