Second chance on Banksy Street piece - scam?, by jakek on Jul 11, 2008 8:40:14 GMT 1, Hi guys,
After reading a lot on here about dodgy ebayers and fake banksy's i thought i'd ask for advice.
I'd bid on this piece - the Queen Victoria piece cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320273313820&_trksid=p2759.l1259
was outbid but got a second chance offer right after the auction itself. That in itself was strange so i've emailed to asked what happened to the original bidder but i just wanted your opinions.
As for the piece, i know the value of street pieces has fallen since there is no longer any chance of selling them with authentication (i've asked what authentication they have) however i was after a piece of Banksy's work. I'd been into his stuff since living in bristol when he was still active down there - and the prices of prints have since rocketed (i did have a print of this that i sold a few years ago for well below the current value - i can't grumble as i'd only paid 40 odd quid for it). I'd also rather have a street piece as it was more true to the spirit in which i'd got into it.
any advice would be appreciated

Second chance on Banksy Street piece - scam?, by mydeaddogwontwoof on Jul 11, 2008 8:58:37 GMT 1, You can guarantee it's a fake fella, doesn't look in the slightest bit weathered considering it has been exposed to the elements for 5 years, if that doesn't convince you check his recent feedback, proper ropey......

Second chance on Banksy Street piece - scam?, by pokerdonp on Jul 11, 2008 9:01:40 GMT 1, All dodgy sellers will use another account, to bid there stuff up to the maximum the buyer will go up to, and then they use the second chance offer to get the best price.
My advice would be to stay clear mate.

Second chance on Banksy Street piece - scam?, by bert on Jul 11, 2008 9:11:57 GMT 1, Personally, I wouldn't touch this.
For ยฃ777 you could get a nice unsigned print or for much less, you could buy a stencil and some paint and create your own street piece that would be as valid as this auction.
