Has the credit crunch stopped you buying art.
Last year - I was buying 1,2 or maybe 3 pieces a month.
So far this year, I've bought 1!!!!
I'm having to choose very carefully and even turned stuff down if it's been available on sites. My GF keeps telling me to buy them - but I can't afford them now.
Anyone else sharing my woahs??

It definitely exists though no matter how much it hasn't affected everyone personally. There's still some real issues with the future of the mortgage market, hence estate agents feeling it.
Regarding the initial question about if it's stopped you buying I'm being very careful about not spending any money as I see a lot of redundancies in the near future and want to have some savings if it happens - mainly as if it happens to me I intend to go travel the world for 6 months and will need to pay for it. The savings are burning a hole in my pocket though and I was dreaming about spunking a few k on art last night. The temptation is strong.

Talking to my barber the other day, he aint going on holiday this year cuz he's being cautious about whats going on at the moment, he would sooner keep the money in the bank just in case! He also commented that regular customers who used to come in once a month are now coming in every 6 weeks!

Quite a few people bought many things they wanted over the past couple years, so there is less wall space to even allow for a new piece... so you really need to choose very carefully. Truthfully, I have bought far more per month in the last 5-6 months than I have in over two years. After being distracted by all the random art that has been coming out on the scene, I am back on track to buy the things I think are the best pieces by the best artists that will be relevant in 5, 10, 50 years time.

But if you look at art purely from an investment angle it isn't going tits like everything else & i think that has helped encourage the art market even at the print buying level.

Only because my favourite artists (excluding Banksy) seem to have been releasing really cracking work which is quite affordable ;D. This year I have managed to obtain one of the SF 'Led Zeppelin' prints (ltd to 300), a MB 'They'll rip your heart out' (one of the 30 produced) and one of C215's 'Nina' prints last week for ยฃ161 including VAT and delivery (only 30 of them to)!! Woohoo.
Now comes the crunch, if I can get a Hush 'Graf geisha' in red this week then I am home and dry for a couple of months . Admittedly there's only 25 of them so I think I may be hard pushed to beat the scrum .
Another guy posted before said something quite pertinent as well, what may be happening is that because of the explosion in street art more and more people have been chasing the great work on offer... but still managing to buy lots of stuff because of the many artists out there now in the public eye. This could not continue so as peoples wall space becomes chocca and they have a glutt of prints it could be that people are reverting to being choosy.
Still I'm a happy guy... and I'm sure most everyone else is IF they're buying what they like not just hoovering up anything that comes along.

I also notice some prints are still doing all the money they were a couple months ago, such as the LIITA on ebay. I expect if/when POW release the next LA Banksy print that the prices will go back up and pass their previous marks. I am thrilled things are back down, so I can pick up some of the one's I passed on earlier!
