Checking for the next Banksy, by chleseaboy on Apr 27, 2008 19:11:12 GMT 1, As some of you gus are on to new releases within minutes of websites being uodated, I'm curious to know how some of you keep ahead of the game... 95% of all POW releases are sold before I can get on the site and I have only got 2 Banksys by literally pressing f5 every other second for a few hours when a release is made public/obvious (Santas Ghetto 07 being the last)

Checking for the next Banksy, by funster on Apr 27, 2008 19:17:25 GMT 1, I've selected "Not at all" - I've missed the last few releases after spending far, far too many hours trying so have come to the conclusion that my F5 button is knackered! Also I've had a lot of fun over the last few months buying originals from new artists that I'd probably prefer to have on my wall as opposed the the next Banksy - which could be anything. Good luck to everyone who is F5'ing all the time though

I would've had a Dale Grimshaw if the finances allowed it.... so I'm inspired to get back in to art myself and create my own masterpieces! :-)

pick yourself up an echo or exorcism print if signal have any left
if you're like me & can't afford an original they're the next best thing, there's a hell of a lot of hand finishing on them

Checking for the next Banksy, by ABC on Apr 27, 2008 19:59:55 GMT 1, I've lost intest due to the number of tossers using ticket tout software giving most no chance at all, including me. I'm just glad I've got what I have.

I wondered whether people use software to automatically bag the prints.... asked an IT dude at work if he knew of anything, but alas not :-(

Checking for the next Banksy, by alsbabar on Apr 27, 2008 20:13:54 GMT 1, without having direct access to their caching server, which would be password protected, then there really isnt any software that bags the prints. All that can be done is use screengrab software that will alert you when a new image has been added to a website, even then its a question of being in front of your pc at the time when release takes place.

Yep. The mystery 'software' is a rumor thats being fueled by resentment of people that have missed out on print releases. Consider the tens of thousands of people going after every Banksy release and it is easily understandable that they sell out in an instant. POW puts updates on the site that give a general idea when the release is going to be put up. On average, POW sees 180k hits per day, and that rate spikes to nearly ten times that when there is an announcement that a release is coming. Couple that with the fact some moron always comes on all the forums and says "GO GO GO"... stands to reason they are gone in an instant.

Checking for the next Banksy, by moleman on Apr 27, 2008 20:33:46 GMT 1, those idiots sometimes help but if you down load mozilla firefox it will check for change on a site. a guy from oz told me he used it to get a fifth man study yesterday. also on brp you can work out the url or http or something they told me to stop that would cost them thousands and they cant invest in that sort of thing. but its more fun to keep f5ing just jolly frustrating sometimes.

if it's not then you'd be using it & wouldn't have made your original post
and don't give me "i don't use it because pow will ban me" because if that was the case, the mystery software would be useless

Checking for the next Banksy, by junkieart on Apr 27, 2008 21:49:40 GMT 1, I agree with alsbabar, you can use javascipt to alert you when a page changes which can work you just need to have it on your screen when you are working. Its worked for me at SG 07 and the latest NW print. Good luck with the IT
