<taps microphone> I'd really like to thank...., by seidbereit on Apr 21, 2008 17:46:45 GMT 1, forum member insite for all his help in sourcing these monoprints (and from the day of the BRP print show until we found them we must have exchanged 20 odd pms so I'll be forever grateful to you mate for keepin' on keepin' on even when it looked like they'd all gone underground) all culminating with his crucial heads up when he saw one appear on the site of the second person I owe a huge debt of gratitutde to, namely:
Andrew at Urban Angel for being an absolute star to deal with and for not charging extortionate mark ups on artwork that was barely a week old, in fact the mark up was almost negligible when compared with the price I was quoted by another person who calls himself a "gallery" but which shall remain unnamed (but if you really want to know it starts with B and rhymes with the name of an American comedian whose first name is Gary and a male character in "Friends" who would probably also have had more of a clue about how these prints were actually made than the "gallery" his name rhymes with :.
Anyway - Andrew many many thanks for all your help. He initially "only" had three available but put me in touch with someone with a fourth (with insite independently giving me another heads up on the same one) which Andrew then also drove across town to pick up for me on my behalf and then arranged (through BRP) all the framing - all at no extra cost (other than the framing cost itself). I don't know where you get service like this from other art traders, I'm guessing practically nowhere! ;D
Thirdly, thankyou very much to everyone at BRP (and in particular, Sarah ) for having their framers match up all four frames (two were already framed) and for coordinating a few of my special wishes with the framers - the acid free mountboard was replaced with cotton rag and the glazing replaced with UV perspex [for shipping and 'for the time being' displaying purposes] which I hope at some time to re-replace with anti-reflective museum glass for permanent display.
Finally my thanks to Bramley Framing (http://www.bramleyframing.co.uk/) for doing such a fantastic job on them and for being very helpful in the choice of materials and for the time and love they obviously invested in making sure they were first completed to perfection and then that they arrived absolutely unscathed.
I had a vision of having five of these in a single row but I fear that now time has slipped by a little too far and a fifth is probably no longer going to be sourced at a price I'd be willing to pay so my collection of these probably ends here. Delighted all the same. ;D ;D ;D ;D

<taps microphone> I'd really like to thank...., by seidbereit on Apr 21, 2008 18:28:28 GMT 1, I have no idea where his gallery is snakes but if his name starts with the same letters as Brentwood does then you're not far from having the right man.
(PS: twerp?? not heard that since I was about 7, do people really still say that?? )

Trade sales are quite normal I suppose but just to repeat once again, Urban Angel's mark up on the monoprints was very low indeed, in fact we're still talking about a three figure sum for each print (and two of them were framed!!) and certainly nothing even close to being on par with the sort of mark up flippers apply to sold out works.
The other gallery mentioned above wanted close to 2k a piece and claimed they were hand-sprayed originals. Stupid t**t. Him, not you obviously.

Yeah trade sales are normal but the percentage of these that seem to have gone to galleries is eye watering and a kick in the teeth for those that spent a cold day outside BRP.
EDIT - They look great

Ah but you live in one of them friendly little villages with a post office, a church, a pub and a bobby on a bicycle (and probably a water pump ) so you've probably had much more practice being helpful than most... living in a big city you're more used to being hoofed out of the way for just trying to hold the same line as someone else on the footpath.. ;D
Many thanks again, mate!!
+ one million

<taps microphone> I'd really like to thank...., by seidbereit on Apr 21, 2008 20:01:09 GMT 1, Crumbs <blushes> thanks funster. It all had to be said as all of those tasks were done at long distance (I'm in Berlin) and I expected it to be a complete nightmare to organise, but in the end I had to do practically nothing but pay - Andrew did all the rest (with BRP/Bramleys) and kept me updated at all times (it all took about four weeks in total) so to say I'm pleased with the result of so much coordination and organisation etc. etc. by other people on my behalf - and which otherwise just goes on completely unseen in the background - would be the understatement of the millenium. I'm absolutely delighted with it as there's no way they'd be hanging there now without any of those people/companies putting all that effort in - my only contribution was to phone the bank and make sure they were paid on time. I couldnt have had it better.
