Need cheering up, records being sold, by onemandown72 on Apr 7, 2008 17:14:41 GMT 1, Finally offered my record collection for sale. Sad, sad moment for me as this is over 25 years of my life in heavy black vinyl wrapped in great mini pieces of art, and something I woudl ahve considered sacrilage up until fairly recently (have held back 50 best covers / records including complete Weller colelction from Jam through to recent Solo stuff). Had to be done but even knowing this doesn't quite take away the sadness. Any suggestions on how to feel better?

Need cheering up, records being sold, by onemandown72 on Apr 7, 2008 17:21:14 GMT 1, Am doing this, but due to house being re-built I need to get rid and won't have time to do the lot. Gutted as when I went through and listed brought back some fantastic memories. Move on though and have promised myself something nice with proceeds from sale

Need cheering up, records being sold, by dotdot on Apr 7, 2008 21:12:39 GMT 1, I've gradaully been flogging my pretty average 80s goth and 90s indie vinyl. Doing it thorugh eBay makes you realise how damn worthless vinyl generally is. First step was selling the Dual CS505, bridge burning exercise, but it hadn't been connected to an amp since early 90s.
i know the feeling dude - all my stuff is hundreds of miles away - has been for an age.
alas nothings for sale i have tons of stuff which never made it to cd courtesy of mr peel - including the dual cs505 and mission speakers
one day i might sell - on second thoughts no probably never - when i bring it all sarf of the boarder.
just think - your lps will be playable long after the format of mp3 is gone ..

Need cheering up, records being sold, by pastiepie on Apr 8, 2008 4:31:22 GMT 1, I have a modest collection of about 500 various records, mostly collected during 2004 when I lived in London. Cost me a bomb to send them back to Australia though. Upon listening back there are some pretty dreadful house/electronic tracks but all the Reggae 7" I was able to get are to me irreplaceable. I don't know if I'm the only one but I'm a sucker for a nice picture disc, got a few off breakbeat kaos, all the Kylie ones and even a sweet Spandau Ballet Gold limited edition 2 disc set.

Need cheering up, records being sold, by diddyd on Apr 8, 2008 7:43:59 GMT 1, i buy and sell records all the time. www.discogs.com is a good place to sell as its free to list, alot of titles are listed on there, all you have to do is tick sell this item, put in the price and shipping details and its up. I managed to list about 300 in 3 hours. It would've taken about 3 weeks listing on ebay. It's a good place for info as well. Hope this helps

Discogs is an amazing & invaluable site... i've used it for so long. I've never sold anything through it though. I've been sitting here looking at thousands of records I really should try & sell but hadn't thought about using discogs. What commission do they charge? And how long did it take to sell a fair proportion of those 300 records?

There comes a time when you realise you don't have to keep EVERYTHING! There are hundreds of records i'd never sell, but there are plenty that I could easily live without, some of which are worth a lot of money! Hoping to clear a large patch of floorspace & use the proceeds for some CD-Js and a new stereo ;D
Here's a question then... what are people's most valuable records?

It is hilarious that they made the biggest selling 12" of all time, and lost money on every copy. So the more they sold the more they lost. Genius!
