Graffiti Artists wanted in Nottingham, by crazyarsemother on Apr 2, 2008 10:48:07 GMT 1, Too busy with my finals to go for this but I think they maybe struggling to find people so I decided to post the article on here.
I live in Radford, Nottingham and I think there is a huge potential to work with local art and redevelopment agencies and organisations to get some good work up on the streets. Anyway, hopefully someone here can benefit from this.
"New Art Exchange Calls In Graffiti Artists
Graffiti artists from across the East Midlands are being invited to submit their best work to feature at our soon to be opened venue. We will choose four artists to produce a piece of work to be installed in the main gallery space of our new building on Gregory Boulevard, during the BASS (British Art and Street Sounds) Festival which takes place in June.
This will be one of the first projects taking place in the new building and the whole project will be curated by young people as part of the YARD programme at The New Art Exchange. They will select the artists that will be awarded the commission of ยฃ300 each (plus reasonable expenses for travel, accommodation and materials) and oversee the project from brief to installation. This is a great opportunity for local artists to showcase their work in one of Nottinghamโs newest arts centres. The final commissioned artists work will reflect the theme for this yearโs BASS festival, โThe Elements of Hip Hopโ (MCing, DJing, bboying and graffiti).
As part of this project we are also on the hunt for artists who are experienced and interested in delivering participatory workshops in graffiti art during the BASS Festival, so please get in touch if this is your area of expertise.
Artists who are interested should submit up to three examples of artwork before Friday 11th April emailing their submissions to yard@thenewartexchange.org.uk with โBASSโ as the subject heading. Your email should include a description of each piece of work, the thought process behind it and background information about themselves also please state whether you will be entering our call for submissions and/or interested in delivering participatory workshops.
