Moving house... how to move your collection??, by mammal2 on Mar 12, 2008 13:38:55 GMT 1, I moved Sunday and I lashed all my framed Banksy in the back of van no problem. I put a quilt between them all and all remained fine and dandy!

Moving house... how to move your collection??, by dave313perry on Mar 12, 2008 13:56:57 GMT 1, Its not the framed stuff i'm worried about... its the 200 or so loose posters and prints. I don't really want to start rolling stuff back into tubes as its all flat in my plan chest.
Get a couple of A1 folders and load of acid free sleeves...

Moving house... how to move your collection??, by marshman on Mar 12, 2008 14:20:10 GMT 1, if the draws come out of the plan chest, why not leave the prints where they are and effectively put a top on the draw, ie a thick covering of carboard on top and then move the draws yourself.
If you live near Folkestone PM me and you can borrow my van, its huge!

Moving house... how to move your collection??, by seidbereit on Mar 12, 2008 16:04:57 GMT 1, How far are you moving?
If it's just down the road they surely won't have that much opportunity to slide around in the drawers but just to make sure you could always stuff newspaper or something in the drawers with them to pin them down a bit (assuming they're in sleeves to start with).
You could also simply drive a little more slowly.

Moving house... how to move your collection??, by Heavyconsumer on Mar 12, 2008 16:29:39 GMT 1, I don't see a problem. This is something many artists cope with daily. Buy a couple of good portfolios and a load of acid free sleeves. There are also some excellent archival boxes, which are probably not so different in dimensions from your drawers, which will house the archival sleeves. Scroll down a few pages here on the main board and find the threads about sleeves and portfolios, they crop up pretty often. Call any of the art supply stores in those lists of answers and ask for recommended products, but it doesn't sound so difficult really. Sleeves are a must though, especially if they may be sliding around a little.
Good luck with the move.
