Favourite New Music of the '07, by darko on Dec 10, 2007 10:33:35 GMT 1, everytime we play it ithe chris issak covers cracks me up and confuses the hell outta the customers ! Ha, yeah it's got some top screeching on it! Yep Vampire Weekend- they are going to be huge next year agree on Maximo awful record over produced, with only a couple of great songs on it... still great live tho. has anyone heard the jeffrey Lewis record of Crass covers? in an anti folk style - very cool. I liked the Vampire Weekend single a lot. I've heard good things about that Jeffrey Lewis CD, but I got it in the post & it was blank! I PMd you, but I'd love to take you up on that CD... i'd offer to do you one back but you've probably heard everything I could rummage up!
Jeffery lewis is playing at rough trade next week i think ....free too check the web site. thats about five at the moment...any more want a cd?

Just what I need, to be enticed into buying more music from the teasers I hear on a CD... damn it, say no.. say no... Yes please.. sign me up as well. +1

Favourite New Music of the '07, by jellya on Dec 16, 2007 11:44:37 GMT 1, Totally agree on the Burial recommendation (Album name: untrue). An interesting album for anyone wanting to dip their toes into Dub Step. It's quite dark & beautiful in an Aphex Twin sort of way; the type of music I would prefer to be listening to on my way home in a cab at 3am. However it certainly falls into the experimental music category so won't be everyone's cup of tea. Oh, and personally, the synthesised distorted vocals that RnB producers love really grates. So, job done.. my "recommendation" will probably result in everyone avoiding this album like the plague! Oh and if you do buy it, play track 13 "raver" first; easily the most accessible on the whole album. Otherwise, a quiet year for me music wise was lifted by the release of the highlights of Orbital live at Glastonbury over the last decade. For a group that were alway 10 times better live, this album was long overdue. Got it on rotation for the past month.. plus the first album in the car 2006's #01 album for me. "Untrue" By far the most interesting album of the past few months.. Check out the Burial remix of Jamie Woon's "wayfaring stranger" best track of the year.. oh, check the original gospel version too.
The Burial album (Untrue) is dark, dirty, gritty, harrowing and beautiful. A lot like the art we like ;D I think a lot of people on this forum would love it.

Favourite New Music of the '07, by melmoth on Dec 29, 2007 18:11:31 GMT 1, I didn't find anything 'new' this year that I liked, but I did like the following albums:
Radiohead - In Rainbows Arcade Fire - Neon Bible Wilco - Sky Blue Sky Eddie Vedder - Into The Wild OST White Stripes - Icky Thump M.I.A. - Kala
Best show I went to was the White Stripes at the Agganis Arena, shortly before Meg's meltdown.
