Islington Council Preserving Banksys, by insite on Nov 1, 2007 18:32:41 GMT 1, In the typically schizophrenic manner that councils work Islington have decided to do the complete opposite of Tower Hamlets and are actively seeking to not only preserve but repair work by Banksy.
Top quote from this article has to be "I have a copy of his book at home."

Its just makes economic, artistic and historical sense. The people in tower hamlets council that decided to clean all banksy's will be regarded in time as being as stupid as the people from hartlepool that hung a monkey thinking it was a french spy.

So does this mean in the future we'll be calling people from Tower Hamlets "Banksybuffers"?

Islington Council Preserving Banksys, by becksaboo on Nov 1, 2007 21:43:45 GMT 1, i think this debate which is going on with councils is really interesting and about time there was an open debate about graffiti and vandalism. i hope they look at other peoples' work and not just banksy.
i wonder if they go to some kind of national council conference where they try to impress each other with how many banksy's they have in their patch.

Islington Council Preserving Banksys, by 'bric on Nov 2, 2007 0:42:32 GMT 1, A mate works for one of the councils, he was saying that every board meeting they had was being taken over by the topic.
Picture a number of people sitting around to talk about bugdets, schools etc and every time someone brings up the topic of "what to do with our Banksy's" - most of the older members of the board/commitee took the obvious point of view and therefore the decision was made to get rid.
Glad Islington has a bit more sense.

Islington Council Preserving Banksys, by finsburyparkranger on Nov 2, 2007 1:54:15 GMT 1, I wish every double yellow line in london ended with a quirky artistic flurish. So soon the councils will be begging Mr B and others to leave a mark on there own 'designated graffiti areas'. Not sure if that qualifies as irony but it will be very funny. Of course those 'designated areas' won't work like intended, they will only end up getting vandalised. ;D
