Whats gonna happen in 2007?, by rolyateel on Jan 26, 2007 22:13:18 GMT 1, I'm in agreement with almost everything here... except that I think Dolk will be a dark horse that nobody would have seen coming. Of course, that could be because I'm biased (yes, I worship Dolk), but perhaps he currently appears to be on the down-low just because he hasn't been quite active. He hasn't released any new prints for quite a while, and there was only 1 canvas for sale at Santa's Ghetto (and zero new prints). No new stuff = No new hype = Fall off the radar. But he's definitely getting into gear with some pretty damn exciting stuff lined up for 2007, so we shall see.

2. Alot of middle of the road artist will fade away if they dont follow up with something amazing this year.
3. HOW COULD YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED NO3 yet, come on guys something massive is going to happen in the art/street art/graffiti world this year and no ones even mentioned it!!!

It will be revealed that Steph quit POW becuase she IS Banksy and doesn't have the time to run the Gallery and still keep on knocking her work out.
There will be a break away from the "Street Artists" that just do pretty prints one of 750 and a boost for those that really are "Street Artists" and use spray paints / still paint on the street. A boost for Nick Walker.
Banksy (Steph) will either get caught putting grafitti on building in London and the "Shock" news will make her/him bigger than ever.
Banksy will be killed by some NYC gang for putting rats in their "hood"... this forum will be a place for morning rather than banter.
I will retire early after selling the Orginal Canvas I bought over Christmas for £55
Agent Bacardi will become a "traitor" (like me) and own more of another artists work than Banky's (we will make our own forum with just us two as members).
Beejoir will be arrested after some goon puts a bomb inside one of his "Tellys" and the police think it was him (hope not  )
We all discover that "the Voice of Authority" is Bansky / Steph / Martin / Silky all rolled into one
In 2007 Senna will show us some of Framed prints and will startwriting posts as long as this one.
GBH, Bacardi, Damulle and the rest will recruit more foreign members to the forum so the "Night Shift" add more posts for us to read in the morning.
The ebay forum will be closed... we will be victorious.
Roman Ambramovich will sell Chelsea to the pensioners and then he will collect Banksy prints...
TitiFreak will do great things at POW.
POW will run out of that Heavy fancy art paper with the deckled edge and the remaining Banksy LA prints will be on that Chrome photo paper.
I will miss out on all the remaining four LA prints... only to buy them from ebay for a mint!
The Banksy forum will have a "meet", luckily we will all get on well as we are all either: 14 year old little boys or middle aged stock brokers from London
Kate Moss will buy a Kate Moss.
Sotheby's will have more people in the audience wearing Hoodies and Cargo pants than ever before.
Santa's Ghetto will not get a UK license this year as it will be too popular for any UK police force to endure... NYC will get it and Bacardi & RK will make us all sick by saying that they have load sof Micallef / Banksy / Dolk / Eelus originals for a fiver. (Silky will ban them from the forum)
We will discover that another POW artist is Banksy and has been unsuccessful because no-one (apart from Steph, Martin, Silky) knew

I think that by the end of the year it will be impossible to get one for less than £30,000. Micallef will also do well but lacks the universal appeal of Banksy- prices wll reflects that. To be honest I don't think that any of the other POW artists are close to Banksy these days. POW will agonise about how to cope with Banksy's success and then stop agonising and push the prices up.

I think that the hype generated by Banksy is propping up the whole contemporary art world. If he doesn't release anything for 6months the hype will drop away and the market will completely fall down, which would be good for me because it will make all work more affordable. Then it will go back to the "good old days" when Banksy's took months, not minutes to sell out.
As much as I dislike Micallef's work I think he is the only other POW act that will go on to get gallery shows around the world. I just can't see anyone else from POW or otherwise being accepted in the same way as Banksy.

Interesting- I emailed for a quote on precision bombing this week- its now £26K.......

I don't necessarily think so. If it is in NYC I'll attend, but I won't be camping out everyday! Not sure about AgentBacardi... but I have a real job and I can't take the month off to be in NYC.

I have a real job too!!! A researcher/graduate student Granted, it doesn't pay very well at all, but I get a Ph.D. degree at the end, which I attempt to convince myself is worth it every single day
But that's irrelevant. I probably won't be able to take the month off to camp out everyday either, but I'll do what I can. The randomness of their releases is just plain irritating.
