Has this Forum lost it's thread?, by Harveyn on Aug 8, 2007 14:55:12 GMT 1, I think the forum and the contents within should have no boundaries and it should be allowed to run its natural course. In away that would be in line with the non-conformist, anti-establishment point of the forum in the first place. Besides which how could you police its direction and content.
I don't think we should debate the current and future direction. I probably should not have answered this thread based on that last point.
This post will self destruct in 30 seconds........... ;D ;D ;D

Yep! ;D The forum will grow and adapt in whatever way it members want it to ;D within reason If a post is made and people are not interested in it, they aint gonna add another post to the thread ;D The forum automatically keeps the busy/popular threads near the top ;D so anything that people dont like will soon drift down the boards, never to be seem again

If that's the case WTF are all these conformist, establisment view points (especially some of the dross art) doing on this forum?

Has this Forum lost it's thread?, by carlito on Aug 8, 2007 15:06:56 GMT 1, surely if we all agreed on which bits of art were gr8 and which are dross.. it would be pretty boring?
as for conformist / establishment / anti establishment - surely most of us are old enough to work out our own politic's / viewpoints without needing to be sheperded in a direction?

Has this Forum lost it's thread?, by buffin on Aug 8, 2007 15:28:13 GMT 1, Ok as a fairly new member I'll give you my views. Yes I joined the forum because of Banksy but I've been introduced to a lot of great art and artists by everyone on here. Some I like a lot(Beejoir, D*Face etc) and I may not have come across them by other means. I don't rate everything but that justs me and a matter of person taste. Same with music, I don't rate Coldplay but loads of other people do so perhaps its me thats missing out.
Anyway all seems quiet on the Banksy front and endless speculation is pointless. Lets hope its the lull before the storm!

Has this Forum lost it's thread?, by johnas on Aug 8, 2007 15:45:35 GMT 1, depends what you mean by 'lost it's thread'. if you are talking about:
* not enough Banksy Banter then no. He's been quiet so there's little to discuss and I think every ounce of speculation has been discussed over and over again! you can guarantee that as soon as a Banksy release does happen, this site will be heaving!
* excessive money/value chat then Yes, probably. I find it boring. For a load of people that buy up works that dig at capitalism, i find it funny how so many seem obsessed by what's this worth, what's that worth, how much blah blah blah. Sometimes the forum does reek of an investment site rather than an art one....
* the discussions on other artists then no. For many, Banksy is at the forefront of a scene and in my mind, it's a good thing that the scene is discussed. newcomers to the forum learn about pioneers and players and there's nothing wrong with that

Has this Forum lost it's thread?, by rolyateel on Aug 8, 2007 15:59:19 GMT 1, Agreed Carlito - Why all the negs just because people have different points of view.
don't think it's anything to do with cru5tee's point of view more to do with the lazy arsed way in which the thread was started almost as tho he didn't have a point of view and wanted someone to form one for him so he could agree with it
that'd be my guess...unless I'm wrong, in which case I'll agree with anyone elses point of view ;D
...ah...see the post 2 above this one...bingo!

Has this Forum lost it's thread?, by worlddomination on Aug 8, 2007 16:01:11 GMT 1, Being a relatively new member to the forum i believe that it should wander into all areas of art and not box itself off in "Banksy" world. The more the variety of threads the more the forum thrives because different view points keep the forum moving forward. Art by it's nature has always been discussed/viewed in so many different ways and that's what makes it so interesting, long may it reign.

erm, that's debatable....
but to pick up on one other thing, i know you feel some of the other artists discussed here have no place on the forum as they are not really part of the 'scene'. i can understand that but I think it's great that the members here feel they can share something that they may have found or something that really floats their boat, in the hope that someone else may like it.

Has this Forum lost it's thread?, by corblimeylimey on Aug 8, 2007 16:05:17 GMT 1, My only complaint is that the forum is getting a little 'rich' there's so much being talked about that has a number and 3 zeros after it, too pricey for me and I guess a lot of others, then again there's obviously a fair few here that can afford that.
Just my tuppence worth.
