You have to hang on in there a bit and it's a battle of wits, but well worth it ... I was surprised how effectively it was all done - good luck !

You bought a print in good faith which was clearly described as being in mint condition.
Print arrives with blue spray on it. Even if Joe is being honest when he says he soesn't know how it got there, I can't beleve that he is arguing the toss and thinks that you are due any less than a full refund (to include return postage).
Legally and morally you are entitled to a full refund and apology.

he's offered me £300 back,we are communicating via paypal, i have said i would excep 330 am i being a mug? I paid £360 £30 and £7-8 postage is that a cosly lesson in not being hasty? If he will give you the £300 and doesnt want the print back (as he may see it as worthless being damaged) let me know and I will pay your other £60 !

originally he wanted £500 so it and nobody was interested on the dface forum, after a while the price went down and down, he offered it to me for £310, which was making a loss on what he paid for it
i suggested since no1 was wanting it, and i didnt have the money, he shud put it on ebay for a BIN price, sum1 would snap it up quickly, but he didnt, why ?
its hard to sell somthing on ebay without photos

I was the original owner of this print but struck a deal with Joe involving a Sadamed canvas which I had been after for a while. The print was in perfect condition when I sent it out the very next day and I was told by Joe the he'd received it and it was 100% ok. I did end up waiting about 3 weeks for my Sadamed which got my a bit worried that I'd been scammed by a 'forum stranger'. When it arrived it was as expected and is now hanging in full glory - I must say that Joe's behaviour in this matter has been really bad & he should have sent reados a full refund straight away..... 
What I think this matter has highlighted though is that you have to be careful when trading with other forum members and take all precautions possible. I know that the majority of people here are very honest & reliable people but there's always somebody who doesn't conform to this manner and people could get ripped off for a lot of money if they're not careful.........

I wish i had continued down the paypal route, i would have got all my money back, i was just concerned about the timescale and the hassle, as i am extremely busy at work at the moment, i can't afford to have my mind on other things, its bad enough as it is checking in on the forum every five mins.
thanks again to everyone who posted and gave advice, i think its a valuable excersie in trading on these forums.
!. try and get a picture
2. make sure you get all their details before you send any money
3. pay by paypal, even if you pay the cost it does give you some protection, and verifies the person exsists
4. If its cheap ask yourself why?
5. Dont be to hasty!
i broke all but one of those rules and im £50 down.
