I just got the idea cause im also hunting for some recipes online am on a good one right now which is: BBC.co.uk - food section. I like the way you can select random recipes on there ive got a good one for "Fried mozzarella with polenta" that i want to try out!

Food, by gm on May 20, 2007 22:51:38 GMT 1, If music be the food of love, go ahead and post your recipe in the Music section
For about 6 weeks now I've been on a nil/very low fat diet, cos me gallstones have been playing up. Right now I would do just about anything for an enormous fry-up, with a couple of fried slices to mop up the leftover grease on the plate, followed by puddings and custard.
*drool*
I know if I did give in I'd be in absolute bloody agony for a minimum of 12 hours, tho
There's a little cartoon devil sitting on my shoulder saying: "go on - it's only pain - it'll be worth it".
Ack!

Not sure about the ipod? Well it's only for one course, and hearing waves lapping & seagulls squawking while you tuck into some nice seafood definitely enhances the flavours!
I have to say it was an incredible experience. Cost a fortune, but sometimes you just have to say 'fuck it!'. Just book it & go... you won't regret it!

I'm angling after a trip to El Bulli but my missus doesn't like "that sort of stuff" preferring a fillet steak
If you're ever in Manchester give Juniper a go, absolutely first class food.

As far as the lapping waves and seagulls i live in Southend on the Seafront and those gulls drive me potty!!! Have you tried Ramsay's in Chelsea a real bugger to get a table, had to book like six months in advance. but as you say a meal that can still wet the taste buds by just thinking about it is worth the wait and cost

Food, by headphonesex on May 22, 2007 12:40:13 GMT 1, frank, i don't unfortunately make it a habit of going to ludicrously expensive restaurants, although perhaps I should sell a few Banksys & make it a weekly event! No, i've not been to Ramseys gaff. Think that was voted as one of the world's top ten restaurants as well, but personally I don't really fancy paying top whack for a meal garnished with Ramsey's bile & hate!

Food, by headphonesex on May 22, 2007 12:42:39 GMT 1, Anyone eaten anything particularly strange?
I had a branch full of ants in the jungle once. They were surprisingly delicious! Very citrusy!
I've also had crickets, snake, piranha & guinea pig. And no doubt some other oddities as well, but I can't quite remember off the top of my head!

ah, my home town of maidenhead.... besides the fat duck, the hinds head pub next door is also one of heston's establishments - slighty cheaper and easier to get into than the FD. The roux bros also own a bistro in Bray that is cheaper than their Waterside restaurant and just as good (and still on the river thames too)
plus famous Bray residents include Mr rolf harris and dithering old Michael Parkinson
oh, and finally, The Crown pub and a restaurant called 'Fish' in bray are also worth a mention - again, great food. had many a pissed evening in the crown

That's it. That's decided me. Been umming and ahhing about the Fat Duck for a while now, but I'm definitely going to be saving up for a trip to Bray in the not too distant.
I'm also going to pass on the link to your review to a couple of other ummers and ahhers, as it might just be the kick up the arse that they need too.

Another Essex Based Banksy Bod - I live 5 mins down the road in Chalkwell/Leigh on Sea
Back on topic, I love my food too ;D
Had a phase (when me and the GF had spare cash) the last few years of trying out some of the better restauarants in town - Unless your an account manager, in PR or a Celeb - you have to wait months for a table, but nethertheless we managed to get to The Ivy (twice) J Sheekeys, and The Wolesley last year - and very nice they are too - not the epitome of fine dining compared to Heston Blumenthal or Gordon Ramsey, but definately an experience.
Personally, my fave place to eat is either Smiths of Smithfield or The Chop House over at Butlers Wharf (in the bar - 3 course set menu - about £12-50 - great food - no need to book - and views of Tower Bridge! Bargain! been in there loads of times. ;D

Nice FPR! i ate dog (BBQ and Roast) in vietnam, sivit cat which is some sort of skunk and cobra also which was okay, however the practice of drinking its fresh blood in rice wine is not recommended especially if you are the guest, cos you get the still beating heart too... apparantly it makes you good in bed or something..
Also drank bee whisky, that is nasty. Other interesting food i've had is alligator, ostrich, emu, kangaroo, buffalo, shark, no bugs though.
the worst thing i ate though had to be grits and corn dogs from west virginia, both are foul.
anyone still hungry....?
