Need help on original and print valuation, by e15makaveli on Jun 7, 2011 15:51:29 GMT 1, Hi
Ive got some pieces i need a valuation on so any help would be greatly welcomed.
I have an original oil painting by sean hargadon from 1980 signed and with emails from sean naming the piece and giving a description of the painting.
I know saatchi sells his works but i tried to contact them but they didnt get back to me.
I also have four prints from a set printed by my friend grandfather in 1968. 3 are signed but 1 is not.
The artists name is william (bill) Papas. The prints are of london paris rome and athens.
Any info on where to sell these would be great.

Need help on original and print valuation, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 7, 2011 16:29:59 GMT 1, The prints won't be worth much. Only 4 works of his ever sold at auctions (3 OG & 1 prints). Highest price was a drawing which sold at Bonhams, Ipswhich for ยฃ280..
Sean Hargadon doesn't have a recorded sale on the market..

Need help on original and print valuation, by e15makaveli on Jun 7, 2011 17:46:22 GMT 1, Ive spoke to sean himself but only about the painting, not the current value. The auction history is not what im after, i have already searched that side of things. I see that saatchi sells his work and all prices are poa. I have emailed all the different mail addresses on his site but no reply. Sean himself said he forgot he painyed this and has not seen it in over 30 years so it must be rather rare. What auction would i enter this into if i was going to is another question i have?
Thanks for all replies so far

Need help on original and print valuation, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 7, 2011 18:00:41 GMT 1, Don't want to offend you so don't take the following negatively.
You mislead yourself between saatchi online (were artist can join & sell their art) & the saatchi gallery.
As I said, Sean never had any artwork sold at auction which means that there is no precedent which means that most reputable auction house won't be interested in this (they want artist that have a sale history at auction & loof after because no sale means no benefit).
However, you can try to have it fit in a local auction around the place you're living in.
