What else do you Collect?, by supercockle on Jun 11, 2011 13:47:25 GMT 1, Interesting read this thread.
I "collected" (I put it in quotations for I never really persisted for more than a year with anything. I obsess, I become bored) a number of things.
Rubbers Keyrings Panini Football stickers Autographs (mainly football) Football Programmes
I think I once had a summer holiday in Bridlington where I decided to start collecting business cards that I picked up in shops. Thankfully it lasted no longer than the holiday.

What else do you Collect?, by Finsbury on Jun 12, 2011 10:13:46 GMT 1, Anything Arsenal from when i first started supporting from first game 1981. Ticket stubs, Kits, programmes, scarfs, autographs, general memorabia, up until Highbury - lack of space, end of an era etc.
I never thought i'd get the old collecting buzz again althouth ive always found something to spend my hard earned on until i was walking past a gallery window and i really liked a piece done by a local artist which kick started a new found addiction. And im loving it..

What else do you Collect?, by Viking Surfer on Dec 16, 2015 19:15:06 GMT 1, Glad I am not the only one with a problem. Unusual I know, but my other passion is medieval illuminated manuscripts. Nothing printed. Most of mine range in date from 1250 to 1500. Not religious at all, but just find them beautiful, and get a thrill from realising that they were being read so many hundreds of years ago, and putting it into historical conext eg time of joan of arc, before Shakespear etc.... A couple of examples - these are very small and on vellum. Look great with a Banksy!
This is totally rad. I used to do a seminar on illuminated manuscripts.
You know what would look great with these? A nice Rembrandt - Raising ofLazarus

Thack you Viking. It's rare at my age that anything I do or say is described as rad!

What else do you Collect?, by Deleted on Nov 26, 2022 18:28:39 GMT 1, The collector instinct is certainly strong with me! Here’s some of the stuff I’ve collected since middle school:
- keychains - garbage pail kids cards - stamps - US coins - swatches (as a kid) - (real) watches - art
Mainly focused on art now, but definitely still love my watches, and I still add the odd coin every now and again if it’s something special enough.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the art market dynamics are very similar to those of the watch market, so I don’t think I made too many mistakes initially!

Are we doing it because we enjoy it, or just because we have addictive personalities and collect shit like they’re Pokémon? My missus has some thoughts on this…

I’d say definitely a cocktail of enjoyment and addiction!
