One of Suffolk's finest! John Constable born 11 June 1776 in East Bergholt, Suffolk. He is better known for his landscape paintings of Dedham Vale, the area surrounding his homeโnow known as "Constable Country". His most famous paintings include Dedham Vale of 1802 and The Hay Wain of 1821.
Not sure if that print is of any great value fingerz, but that Suffolk/Essex landscape is just as beautiful today as it was back then.
Sorry to hear about the passing of your father mate. I lost my dad in back in 2006, so I know how you're feeling at this difficult time. Trust me! It does get better with time.

Chin up mate! I'd do what sacked suggested, take them to a local auction house to give you an honest appraisal. Might be able to work out publisher, dates and values etc.

advice on George Stubbs + John Constable , by rperry on Nov 2, 2011 22:04:25 GMT 1, Sorry for your loss fingerz.
Both artists are very well known and sell at very high auction prices. Your prints are not lithographs from the time of the artists life but from more recent museum shows. I'm sorry to say that the value they have is in your memory of your dad's excellent taste in painters.

advice on George Stubbs + John Constable , by fingerz on Nov 7, 2011 22:40:08 GMT 1, after a few emails i found out this little trinket of info , for any 1 who cares
.Goldenlay was the major brand in the 1970/80's and was owned by a co-operative called Yorkshire Egg Producers. At the time they were the largest egg suppliers in the country. Regarding the painting we believe it was part of a promotional campaign of the Goldenlay brandโฆโฆmajor retailers and farmers would have been given them, therefore the paintings date back to the 1970s/80s.
