Adam Neate โข Revolving Door, by manty on Jan 8, 2012 10:05:27 GMT 1, This Thread is great, the more people discuss/disagree on Neate's work quality the higher the probability some more pictures get posted, which I love ;-) Please please please keep posting some more, I'm completely uneducated about his past artworks (his last Show, the best in London this year IMO, was the first I attended) but the more I discover about it the more I like it ! Any place online where I can see more of it ? A second visit to Elms is definitely on the agenda... Thanks

Adam Neate โข Revolving Door, by mike hunt on Jan 10, 2012 15:05:15 GMT 1, I think the 3d stuff is interesting and I applaud his bravery, even if some of them don't work as well as his previous stuff. What I liked about his old work was that it was quite visceral but he did need to move on. It'll be interesting to see how he develops in the future.

Adam Neate โข Revolving Door, by Gentle Mental on Jan 10, 2012 16:45:12 GMT 1, i think 3D for Neate is not a gimmick, it's a natural leap. i think his paint wants to live on surfaces, volumes, shapes and forms, like haring's doodles filling up cars and sculptures. like street artists with whatever 3d stuff they can find, be it a trash can, a phone booth, an abandoned car door. but that also means the work will stay incredibly expensive... and there won't be boring 2d prints for a skint collector like me.

Adam Neate is taking giant steps for man kind. He can do no wrong imo. I would love a Perpex self portrait, but Jim would have to fix it from his grave.
Neate takes a canvas rips it apart and it still looks like and Adam Neate, yet different to anything he has done before. We have a genius on our hands and regardless of if you like, love or loath his work. There is no braver, more talented artist that I know of. Although I am limited with my knowledge.

Adam Neate โข Revolving Door, by BorntoKiln on Jan 11, 2012 8:34:57 GMT 1, He is a Brilliant Artist thats for sure, not sure about great leaps forward for man kind. But who knows? Maybe he will discover the cure for cancer or end the plight of the African child in the near future.
On a serious note - the man just goes from strength to strength imo. Always trying new things and pushing himself to the next level, his technique and rendering are second to none. No stencils required!

Adam Neate โข Revolving Door, by johnnyh on Jan 12, 2012 9:38:46 GMT 1, Sand thanks for that especially the vid. The photo does not do it justice in the Vid that is one amazing piece. Off down to the Singapore thing in about an hour so will update on what the piece looks like in the flesh. Hope they have one of the above there as I think I prefer that.
Regardless of liking this or that more I do think he is somebody who challenges himself and I suppose different things work to different degrees of success. Unfortunately in the flesh only seen a couple of his pieces in hong kong but they were really impressive.
would love to see one of his shows.
Think its nice that he constantly goes where he wants rather than just follows the cash as it were by more of the same but tweaked so I think this gives him in the really long term the possibility of becomming one of the UK's truly great artists as he will eventually leave a really telling body of work. EG Where will he be in 10 or 15 years. Some artists you can kind of predict but I think Neate no one knows and that is what I think makes him great even if you do not like everything he does.

Adam Neate โข Revolving Door, by johnnyh on Jan 12, 2012 16:45:50 GMT 1, Just got back from the Sing show and the pub.
Show is amazing as galleries from all over Asia and some great stuff at it. See below pics of the Neate stuff on show. There was another piece but photo did not come out only taken on my bberry.
Met Paul from Elms there what a top guy and had a long chat with him.
The rotating door piece is a bit tasty weird but tasty. The guy gets older as he goes round and that's what it is all about the circle of life. It was already sold. Must have Ben from preview or earlier as gone. Must say I did though prefer thensitting down 3d piece to the revolvingbdoor piece.
The third piece is just stunning as per the vid above. Really quite amazing
The fourth piece hear is a small canvas and I bought it. Although small is absolutely stunning so well chugged with it. Great paint is a bit 3D as has wire across the face and a sort of Perspex as the eyes. Amazing in the flesh as it were.

This is the one I got the only one available. While paying someone else tried to buy it but deal was done. It is quite small about 10 inch by 10 inch

Some one asked cost not mine but the other two big pieces in the pics are around 35k sterling

Adam Neate โข Revolving Door, by Heavyconsumer on Jan 25, 2012 14:23:58 GMT 1, I may have already said this on ths thread, but if say Nick Walker continues to release Vandal prints, everyone moans he isn't moving forward.
Couldn't have put it better meself. He's no second coming or second anything for that matter. He's one of the very few genuine trailblazers this site has been fortunate enough to see. My art hero, no doubt about it and there's no close second place runner up. Long may he push himself into the realm of continuing development, because some of the pieces he creates along the way are worth extracting teeth to see imo (I particularly dislike extracting teeth)! A genius in the truest sense of the word as far as I'm concerned and, as you say, he can do no wrong.
What will Neate be up to artwise in 3 or 4 years time? EXACTLY! Isn't it nice to not know but to feel confidence that his work will still be unique and original yet instantly recognizable as his? I think it is. Personally I find his art beautiful and deeply moving too, but this is totally subjective.
FWIW I think these 3D pieces are potentially the beginning of a new art movement too and far from being simple arts and craft. And if not, why not credit the guy for daring to do something new and doing it so well? When I first looked at Revolving Door, I saw a comment on the human condition in modern society - coming, going, spinning round in circles and yet never really moving on. Just the same old same old at break-neck speed. (Having now read what the exhibitors told John above, I find it no less enchanting) How anyone can suggest that such work might lack soul is strange to me, but to each their own, obviously. Utter genius in both of these latest Vimeo-featured works as far as I'm concerned, although I def' prefer the Revolving Door piece..
Congrat's on a stunning pick-up John. Enjoy it in good health for many years.
