Martin Whatson - Amazing prints!!! , by kazzazz on Sept 29, 2011 2:09:10 GMT 1, I stumbled upon this print.....its by Martin Whatson, who I believe to be a newish artist. Looked at some of his previous work and I think its got a bit of a Banksy feel to them. It makes me wonder what these would be selling for if it was a Banksy. Whats other peoples opinions.....has anyone else seen his work before?

I think this is a moot point as time will level this generation of artists. Banksy should stay at the top of the heap as he has emerged as an original and innovative force in the art world. But, others could extend their legacy with a series of meaningful and original work--that remains to be seen. Most will be in the "also ran" category. They may be lucky and make the footnotes of street art history.

I own about 5 Martin Whatson prints and love them all as much. Banksy twist? I dont think so. Banksy didnt cut the first stencil. He just perfected the use of them

I suppose the 'banksy twist' comment wasn't to make this print inferior but more in the thinking that many people around the world will recognise the banksy style and its good to see an artist using stencils equally as well.

If you ever need to contact him or so try via the forum or by e-mail (PM me for his adress). I asked him to do commissions and communication was perfect!
I don't think he is the new banksy or so.. He used to post a lot more on this forum and it was nice to see his style and skill grow, I loved the scribbles he did but he seems to stopped making these. One of the most impressing things he made was the stencil of the astronaut with a butterfly floating in space. i dont have a picture available but I am sure someone else has it.
