;D Its funny how they might be trying to track Cartrain down for doing stuff on the streets, and then he gets the chance to display his work in City Hall Classic! ;D Well done!
Message to Cartrain - Dont go to hang the work yourself

Cartrain ๐ฌ๐ง Tate Gallery โข Damien Hirst โข Gilbert & George, by hopelessquest on May 21, 2008 15:05:30 GMT 1, Just wanna throw my two cents in, Cartrain's quality of work is shank, we all know that, the collages are crap and the stencils are too, and that thing he was doing with random words (where he said he throws random words in a hat, pulls some out and tries to string a sentence together) did make me think he was seriously a little retarded. I wouldn't go as far as to say he is the most prolific stencil artist in London, C215 was just visiting and smashed stencils everywhere and took over, but he is prolific enough and being in the places where Banksy was helped him get noticed (whether it was calculated or not is not the issue) and that is why he can push canvases infront of people now and get into city hall.
But everything I said above is the good thing about Cartrain, knowingly or not, he is the perfect guy to take the piss out of the art world, which was one of the things this street art thing was about, not so long ago.
ยฃ250 for his canvas is steep (he could do all of those with a ยฃ3.50 can of black and just pay for the price of a pre-assembled canvas), and paying anything for the collages would render you a complete tit in the eyes of everyone you know but it's a good thing for a rich idiot to come along and snap up his stuff, it just helps illustrate the point that the art world is indeed elitist bullshit and any attempt to undermine that can only be a good thing. Plus if this means that people are going to start nicking his stuff off the streets, then I'm all for it.
And to those who purchased his stuff for actual money can feel safe knowing cartrain and banksy email each other occasionally, so hopefully that or a future collaboration will be enough to sustain the value of the pieces you bought in the long term.
He definately isn't 16 anymore (should be 18 or there abouts), and for those of you that use that as a reason to justify his quality of work, let me introduce you to a young man from bristol who is 15 years old who goes by the name of fiction: flickr.com/photos/fictionuk/
For what it's worth though, I do think cartrain will be with us for some time, because I remember sitting in a cell in shoreditch police station earlier this year, and there was a cartrain tag, maybe it was fake, but if it was real and he is still painting, then he obviously does it for the right reasons, most people I know that quit after any sort of heat from the police were always in it for short term gains.
