You're seriously comparing criticism of Cartrain to book burning?
As a wise man/woman once said "He's not the Massiah, he's a very naughty boy!"

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by alistairkhalil on Feb 15, 2012 17:43:42 GMT 1, cartrain is a young artist, younger than most of us on here.. if you really look at the work he has produced, look at the themes he is dealing with and take account to how his practice has developed, have a chat with him, im sure you will all appreciate his work a lot more..
he is, without a doubt, a real street artist.. your all so lucky to see this beautiful journey, whatβs even more beautiful is, his work has all been documented, catalogued, archived.. in one form or another.. you have all been curators in that sense, the good, the bad, and the ugly
the streets, the internet, in your heads, is cartrains playground and he will continue to play..
but for real, for real.. if your NOT creating intelligent discourse around urban art AND just having a moan, about anything, then, thatβs just STUPID...

...fairdo's you are standing by your man, but I've just not seen any discernible themes in this work and struggle to see any kind of thread let alone be aware of a 'journey' through it.
Stencils of Disney characters with bombs, (admittedly quite atmospheric) photos of decrepit rooms, pasted up on the side of buildings, strange kitchen-sink montages of Brit art imagery...
The tagging just makes me want to clip him 'round the ear tbh...

I've not see any change from day 1, it was poorly executed a few years ago with no message or reason, and has it changed much? Nope its still ill thought of, poorly conceived and badly executed art work living off the hype of other great artists, constantly pushing for a connection to Hirst, Cauty, Banksy, but not standing on his own two feet, you can't even blame it on him being young anymore.
Come on most of the time its not worth creating intelligent discourse over unintelligent art.

No its not 'burnt any good books lately ' was in answer to a quote that read very much like a mantra from the third Reich

I have to disagree with you there dlton,'Constantly pushing for a connection to Hirst, Cauty etc. It was both Hirst and Cauty that pushed for a connection with Cartrain and as i remember Cauty did quite nicely out of it. Selling an endless stream of ''limited edition'' Skull heads and as for Hirst well ' All publicity'' As for 'Poorly thought out'' There again your showing your ignorance. Rather than create his own art Cartrain would just blatantly rip off Hirsts, then cried like a bay when he got a simple cease and desist, I'm sure many other artists get these in this Genre and I don't hear then shouting and balling. He then went on to steal part of his exhibition, then cry more. The same with his ''Banksy sent me a letter'' bollocks did he, and that was rammed down throats.
Is my getting AZE confused as a crew rather than a person worse than Cartrain tagging AZE but not being AZE?
Its all cringe worthy it really is.

As i understood it, it was Cartrain who, when he first Incorporated the Hirst Diamond encrusted skull head in his collage pieces (Pieces until then, that were much ridiculed and misunderstood) it was he who was persuaded by Hirst and the Hirst Brand and it was they that became upset and cried like babies, threatening to take court action ( Much to the delight of Cartrain) This was then followed by Cauty jumping on the band wagon you should get your facts right and making a absolute mint (Didn't see cartrain cry about that) As for the 'Borrowing' of a few pencils estimated to be worth Β£500,000 that was in direct response to the legal technicalities which backfired on hirst and all charges were dropped (why ?)

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by thegreatarchitect on Feb 18, 2012 12:34:03 GMT 1, TGA...you are right on all accounts...think the charges were dropped as it would have made Hirst look very silly and quite vindictive and caused him some hilariously bad publicity....
The charges were dropped purely because Hirst's 'Legal team' entered into an early agreement with Cartrain whereby on taking possession of Cartrains skull heads Hirst would supply cartrain with a piece of art work by hirst himself plus an acknowledgment to say that he had possession of the notorious cartrain SKULLHEADS , Unfortunately once Cartrain handed over the pieces Hirst's legal team made their excuses with a series of delays then finally doing a U turn and refused to Honor their part of the contract This I think i am right in saying was Cartrains defense over the pencil's if it went to court. The TATE, the Police, Hirsts legal team and the CPS all felt that it was not in Cartrain's interest to be prosecuted over the borrowing of a few pencils despite, having an estimated worth of Β£500 000 HA HA HA
